Adam Lind went 2-for-4 with a double and a two-run home run in Wednesday's win against the Dodgers.

Lind hit the second of two first-inning two-run home runs as part of a five-run outburst against Joe Wieland. The first baseman has been a rare source of consistent offense for the Brewers, now with five home runs, 15 RBI, and a .323/.396/.591 triple-slash line.

Joc Pederson belted a pair of solo home runs, but the Dodgers nevertheless lost to the Brewers on Wednesday.

The Dodgers were behind 5-0 after the first inning, so it was a matter of playing catch-up from there. Pederson did his best, homering in the fifth to make it 5-2, then homering again in the eighth to make it 6-3. The rookie has been on a power surge, hitting seven home runs in his last nine games, bringing his total up to nine on the season with 18 RBI and a .272/.423/.667 triple-slash line.

Evan Longoria hit a pair of solo homers and walked twice to lead the Rays to a 5-3 win over the Red Sox on Wednesday.

The homers were his first and second since Opening Day. It's not like Longoria has been bad -- he's hitting .284 and he has nine doubles already -- but even after tonight, he has just eight RBI in 28 games. It's a combination of him not hitting with RISP and the Rays not putting guys on base for him. He's 2-for-18 with RISP this season.

Alex Colome yielded two runs and four hits in five innings Wednesday in a win over the Red Sox.

Colome threw a modest 48 of his 79 pitches for strikes, yet he went without a walk for the second straight start. Unfortunately, he'll miss the entire four-game series against the Rangers and make his next start versus the Yankees on Monday. He's a decent enough bet in AL-only leagues, but he's not currently recommended in mixed leagues.
May 6 - 10:43 PM

Justin Masterson gave up four runs and walked six in 4 1/3 innings Wednesday in a loss to the Rays.

Masterson had turned in three straight solid efforts, giving up six runs over 18 innings, but he completely lost the strike zone at times tonight and was lucky to last as long as he did. He and Joe Kelly are really neck-and-neck in the fierce competition to lose a spot in Boston's rotation.
May 6 - 10:40 PM

Jason Grilli escaped a jam in the ninth inning for his ninth save as the Braves won 7-5 over the Phillies on Wednesday.

Grilli entered the ninth with a three-run lead, but issued a leadoff single to Ben Revere, then issued a two-out walk to Ryan Howard to bring the tying run to the plate in Darin Ruf. Ruf ripped a single to left center to bring in Revere, but Grilli recovered to strike out Odubel Herrera to end the game. Grilli is now 9-for-10 in save chances with an uninspiring 4.50 ERA and a 16/4 K/BB ratio in 10 innings.

Asdrubal Cabrera went 0-for-5 as the Rays' No. 7 hitter on Wednesday, dropping his average to .189.

He did hit the ball hard once, drilling on-deck batter Brandon Guyer in the forearm. Fortunately, Guyer was fine. Cabrera is not. He's been the Rays' biggest liability this season, and at some point, Kevin Cash needs to stop automatically running him out there. It's not like he makes up for his bat with defense.
May 6 - 10:38 PM

Mike Foltynewicz gave up four runs in 5 1/3 innings but got the win on Wednesday versus the Phillies.

The Braves staked him to a 6-1 lead after a four-run fifth inning, but he gave three of them back before departing in the sixth. Overall, he allowed seven hits and walked three while striking out seven. Foltynewicz is 2-0, but the performance hasn't quite matched up with the results in his first two starts with the Braves. he has allowed seven runs (six earned) in 10 1/3 innings with a 9/6 K/BB ratio. He'll look for improvement as he takes on the Reds in Cincinnati next.
