Matt Boyd was torched for seven runs in 2 1/3 innings by the Yankees on Tuesday.

It'd seem to be a good time for the Tigers to give someone else a try. Boyd has allowed 20 earned runs in 17 2/3 innings this month, pushing his ERA up to 6.24.

X-rays turned up negative on Paul Blackburn's right arm.

Blackburn got drilled by a Trey Mancini comebacker in the fourth inning of his start Tuesday night in Baltimore and left the field in serious pain, but it sounds like he could take his next turn. "We dodged a bullet," manager Bob Melvin said after the game. The 23-year-old right-hander had worked four scoreless frames against the Orioles, improving his ERA to 3.22.

Aaron Judge's strikeout streak finally ended at 37 games after he singled and walked three times Tuesday against the Tigers.

Judge was pulled from the rout in the seventh, costing him two more at-bats in which he could have extended his streak. The nice game eked his OPS back up to 1.011. An 0-for-4 tonight would have put him below 1.000 for the first time since April 27.

Khris Davis ripped a solo homer in Tuesday's win over the Orioles.

Davis was hitless in his first four plate appearances but finally joined in on the Athletics' 13-hit, six-run fun with a dinger off of Darren O'Day. The slugger entered the night hitless in his previous four contests.

Jed Lowrie launched a two-run home run Tuesday in Baltimore.

Boog Powell led off the game with a single and Lowrie followed that with a bomb off Ubaldo Jimenez that hit the top of the fence and went into the seats. It was his lone hit in five trips to the plate, but the veteran infielder has now gone deep in each of the first two games of the series.

Nicholas Castellanos homered twice to drive in three of the Tigers' four runs Tuesday against the Yankees.

Castellanos entered the night at .247/.267/.384 for the month. The Tigers are looking at shifting him to right field next month to make room in the lineup for Jeimer Candelario. Castellanos needs to show something there and finish the season with a decent stretch offensively to ensure that he remains in the Tigers' plans for 2018.

Ryon Healy slugged a solo home run and a two-run shot in Tuesday's win over the Orioles.

Healy took Ubaldo Jimenez deep with an opposite-field solo shot in the first inning and homered off the righty again in the fifth with a two-run blast to left. He also drew a walk on the night. Healy has now put together a nine-game hit streak, although these were his first two dingers during that stretch.

Manny Machado smacked a two-run homer Tuesday against the Athletics.

The Orioles were unable to solve starter Paul Blackburn, but they perked up a bit after he left with an injury and it started with Machado's blast off of Simon Castro in the sixth inning. It's the third baseman's ninth longball this month.
