Anthony DeSclafani will make a rehab start on Friday for Triple-A Louisville.

DeSclafani is getting close to appearing in his first big league game since 2016. It'll be the third rehab start for the right-hander, and if things go well for him in his International League debut, we could see Desclafani join the pitching staff before the end of the month.
May 23 - 4:50 PM

Zach Davies (shoulder) will be activated from the 10-day disabled list and start against the Mets on Thursday.

Davies has been on the disabled list since May 3 with inflammation in his right shoulder. In six starts for the Brewers before the trip to the DL, he's posted a 4.24 ERA over 34 innings with a 25/12 strikeout-to-walk ratio.

Brewers optioned 1B Ji-Man Choi to Triple-A Colorado springs.

Choi is being sent down to make room for Ryan Braun, who will be activated from the disabled list on Thursday. He performed well over his five games with the Brewers, hitting .286/.375/.643 with a homer over 16 plate appearances.
May 23 - 4:39 PM

Brewers optioned RHP Brandon Woodruff to Triple-A Colorado Springs.

Woodruff is headed to Triple-A to make room for Zack Davies, who is coming off the disabled list to start against the Mets. The 25-year-old right-hander has been inconsistent in his outings with the Brewers in 2018, posting a 6.75 ERA over seven appearances, three of them starts.
May 23 - 4:37 PM

Ryan Braun (back) will be activated off the disabled list on Thursday.

Braun was placed on the disabled list on May 14, so he'll spend just the minimum amount of time on the disabled list. The veteran All-Star has not gotten off to a strong start this season, hitting .222/.268/.413 with five homers and four stolen bases over 37 games.
May 23 - 4:34 PM

Reds recalled RHP Tanner Rainey from Triple-A Louisville.

Rainey gets the call after the Reds placed Austin Brice on the disabled list with a back injury. He struggled in his two appearances with the Reds earlier this season -- if you can call a 31.50 ERA struggling -- but he has electric stuff, with a hard fastball and slider that can miss bats. If he can throw strikes, he can be an effective MLB reliever.
May 23 - 4:28 PM

Reds activated RHP Michael Lorenzen (shoulder) from the 10-day disabled list.

The Reds get Lorenzen back, but they lose Raisel Iglesias (biceps) and Austin Brice (back). With Iglesias out, Lorenzen could see save opportunities, although reports indicate that it could be a committee approach with Lorenzen, Amir Garrett and Jared Hughes getting opportunities to pitch in the ninth.
May 23 - 4:26 PM

Reds placed RHP Austin Brice on the 10-day disabled list with a back injury.

Brice joins closer Raisel Iglesias on the disabled list, and the Reds are calling up Tanner Rainey and activating Michael Lorenzen from the DL to replace them. Brice has appeared in 21 games this year; posting a 4.68 ERA and striking out 26 hitters over 25 innings out of the Cincinnati bullpen.
