Saints KR/RB Marcus Murphy suffered a concussion Friday night.

Already on the roster bubble because of fumbling issues, this is a bad development for the second-year man. It is unlikely he is ready for the fourth preseason game.

Eagles coach Doug Pederson said Nelson Agholor "really stood out" this week in practice.

The comments were unprompted, suggesting Agholor's performance was good enough to be at the front of Pederson's mind. A good week of practice is certainly a positive sign, but Agholor needs to build on it with a strong showing Saturday against the Colts.

ESPN Jaguars reporter Michael DiRocco believes Marqise Lee will be the team's "breakout star" this season.

It is unlikely Lee gets enough work to truly breakout as long as Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns are healthy, but this is still a positive sign. Limited by injuries his first two seasons, Lee has finally had a healthy training camp, and he looks locked into the No. 3 job. He has also earned praise from coach Gus Bradley, who said he has shown more "maturity" this offseason. As long as he stays healthy, Lee should start to turn his career around this season.

ESPN Jaguars reporter Michael DiRocco believes S James Sample (shoulder) could open the season on injured reserve.

The 2015 fourth-rounder ended his rookie season on injured reserve with a shoulder issue, and DiRocco reports his shoulder is "banged up again." With a numbers-crunch in the secondary, stashing Sample on IR might be Jacksonville's best option.

Dolphins second-round CB Xavien Howard (knee) is expected to ramp up his workload in practice this week.

Howard sat out the third preseason game, but he should be healthy enough to participate in the final game next week. If he shows well, he still has a chance to beat out disappointing sophomore Tony Lippett, but he needs to prove he has a firm enough grasp of the defense. Coach Adam Gase does not seem to be concerned. "I wouldn't say he's far behind mentally because he's dialed in to what we're doing," Gase said. "We're going to try to lean on his strength of just matching him up with somebody and letting him go."

Colin Kaepernick sat during the national anthem before Friday night's preseason game.

This is a non-story, but it is something the 49ers could use against Kap if they decide to move on. "The national anthem is and always will be a special part of the pre-game ceremony," the team said in a statement to Pro Football Talk. "In respecting such American principles as freedom of religion and freedom of expression, we recognize the right of an individual to choose to participate, or not, in our celebration of the national anthem." In response to the "controversy," Kaepernick told NFL Network's Steve Wyche he is "not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses Black people and people of color." The real story is Kaepernick was dreadful on the field Friday night, almost guaranteeing he will open the season as a backup.

Bucs second-round K Roberto Aguayo converted on field goals of 48 yards, 21 yards, and 27 yards Friday night against the Browns.

He was also a perfect 3-for-3 on extra point attempts. Aguayo has had a rough go since the Bucs laughably traded up for him in the second round, so he needed this strong performance to get back on track. It is not Aguayo's fault the Bucs spent so much to get him, but he will likely have to cope with unrealistic expectations for at least the next several seasons.

The Washington Post's Mike Jones believes DE Ziggy Hood may have won a roster spot Friday night.

Hood started the third preseason game with Chris Baker sidelined with a leg injury, and he produced two tackles for loss and a sack. Signed as essentially roster filler in February, Jones said Hood has been "one of the biggest surprises" of camp. The former first-round pick should open the season with a big role in the rotation.
