Tigers acquired LHPs Jairo Labourt, Matt Boyd, and Daniel Norris from the Blue Jays for LHP David Price.

Labourt has some underwhelming numbers this season in High-A ball, but he's a big left-hander with a very good arsenal and he doesn't turn 22 years old until next March. The kid is more than just a throw-in.

Tigers acquired LHPs Matt Boyd, Jairo Labourt, and Daniel Norris from the Blue Jays for LHP David Price.

Boyd, a 6-foot-3 southpaw, boasts a 1.68 ERA, 0.84 WHIP, and 107/24 K/BB ratio in 112 2/3 innings this season between Double-A and Triple-A. He made two starts earlier this year for Toronto and neither went particularly well, but the 24-year-old former sixth-round pick looks like a nice long-term rotation piece for the retooling Tigers.

According to Mike Francesa of WFAN, Michael Pineda has been scratched from his scheduled start Thursday night against the Rangers due to an elbow issue.

"He’s not pitching tonight, and he might be badly hurt," Francesa told WFAN co-hosts Joe Benigno and Evan Roberts on Thursday afternoon. Pineda was rocked for five runs on eight hits over 5 2/3 innings last Friday against the Twins, which may have been a strong signal that something was wrong. The 26-year-old is probably going to undergo a range of tests on his right elbow. It could be time for the Yankees to jump into the trade market.

FOX Sports' Jon Morosi reports that the Tigers are "working to trade" closer Joakim Soria.

Soria would make sense for the Blue Jays -- the team the Tigers just traded David Price to -- but it doesn't appear there's anything happening on that front. Soria, 31, has a 2.85 ERA, 1.05 WHIP, and 36/11 K/BB ratio in 41 innings this season for Detroit and he is 23-for-26 in save opportunities. As usual, just about every contending club is looking for relief help.

Jon Heyman of CBS Sports confirms that the Blue Jays have acquired David Price from the Tigers.

Daniel Norris, Jairo Labourt, and Matt Boyd are the three pitching prospects headed to Detroit in return, per USA Today's Bob Nightengale. There was talk Thursday morning that the Dodgers were the heavy favorite to land Price, but Toronto simply stepped up with a better package. Price, 29, has a 2.53 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, and a 138/29 K/BB ratio in 146 innings this season. He'll likely be no more than a rental for the Jays, but it's a huge boost to that previously-underwhelming pitching staff.

According to CBS Sports' Jon Heyman, the Blue Jays are "closing in" on a David Price trade.

Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports is hearing the same, and says a deal could be consummated soon. Toronto already grabbed Troy Tulowitzki from the Rockies, and the club now appears to be on the verge of making a major splash in the starting pitching department. Price, 29, owns a 2.53 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, and a 138/29 K/BB ratio in 146 innings this season for the Tigers. He has also been drawing interest from the Dodgers, Yankees, and Giants.

Royals optioned OF Paulo Orlando to Triple-A Omaha.

The move clears a roster spot for new acquisition Ben Zobrist. Orlando, 29, has hit .237/.270/.408 in 161 plate appearances this season at the major league level.

CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that the Blue Jays are "making a major push" for David Price.

USA Today's Bob Nightengale wrote earlier that some MLB executives are "absolutely convinced" Price is going to wind up with the Dodgers, but the Jays appear prepared to make Los Angeles work for it. Price, 29, is the biggest fish on the starting pitching market now that Cole Hamels and Johnny Cueto have both been dealt.
