Nationals placed 1B Clint Robinson on outright waivers.

If Robinson goes unclaimed in the next 72 hours, he'll report to Triple-A Syracuse. Robinson had been competing with Adam Lind for a backup job at first base. Now that Lind is safely on the team, it looks like Washington's final bench spot will go to either Michael Taylor or Wilmer Difo.

Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports expects Yadier Molina's extension with the Cardinals to be for three years and around $45-55 million.

The two sides have been making "progress" on a new deal and it looks like this could come together quickly. Per Rosenthal, Molina is reluctant to uproot his family and prefers to finish out his career in St. Louis. The implication is that Molina would take less than his market value to remain a Cardinal. He's due $14 million this year and $15 million in 2018 if the Cardinals pick up his club option.

Aaron Hill earned a $100,000 retention bonus on Tuesday.

Beat writer Andrew Baggarly considers it a "firm" sign that Hill will be on the Giants' Opening Day roster. The 35-year-old should play a utility role for the Giants and could wind up platooning with Joe Panik at second base. Hill has hit .255 over 47 Cactus League at-bats this spring.

Ervin Santana has been announced as the Twins' Opening Day starter.

As expected. Santana will get the ball at home against Kansas City on April 3. He'll be followed in the rotation by Hector Santiago and Kyle Gibson. Last year Santana was a bright spot in an otherwise dreary season for the Twins, contributing a 3.38 ERA over 30 starts.

Brandon Morrow won't make the Dodgers' Opening Day roster.

He'll remain with the club for the Dodgers' upcoming Freeway Series. So far Morrow has struggled to a 4.82 ERA over 11 Cactus League outings. Morrow told manager Dave Roberts that he's willing to start the year in the minor leagues. Because he's still on the roster, Morrow is entitled to a $100,000 retention bonus.

Shawn Armstrong has made the Indians' Opening Day roster.

Armstrong did well for himself as a September call-up last year, contributing a rock-solid 2.53 ERA over 10 outings for the Tribe. He'll be employed as a middle reliever this year with Andrew Miller and Cody Allen handling most of Cleveland's high leverage opportunities.

Indians optioned RHP Carlos Frias to Triple-A Columbus.

LHP Kyle Crockett and RHP Nick Goody are also being sent to Columbus. Frias was acquired from the Dodgers in January but couldn't beat out Shawn Armstrong for the final spot in Cleveland's pen. For his career, the right-hander carries a 4.50 ERA over 33 big league appearances (15 starts).
Mar 28 - 2:31 PM

Pirates reassigned RHP Josh Lindblom to minor league camp.

The 29-year-old held his own against big leaguers this spring, compiling a 4.29 ERA over six Grapefruit League outings (three starts). Lindblom will likely start off the year with Triple-A Indianapolis.
