Theo Riddick (hamstring) returned to Lions practice Wednesday.
He missed Week 7 against the Saints. With Reggie Bush (ankle) expecting to play in London vs. the Falcons, Riddick will pick up the scraps as the No. 3 back.
Brandon Pettigrew (undisclosed) did not practice Wednesday.
Pettigrew wasn't even spotted on the practice field in London. The Lions have been hit hard at tight end, losing Eric Ebron (hamstring) and Joseph Fauria (ankle) to injuries the past few weeks. Detroit will hope Pettigrew can play Week 8 against Atlanta, or they'll have to turn to Jordan Thompson and Kellen Davis.
Eric Ebron (hamstring) did not practice Wednesday.
Ebron missed Week 7 with the pulled hamstring. He isn't shaping up as a "go" this week, either. Brandon Pettigrew (undisclosed) and Joseph Fauria (ankle) also sat out Wednesday's practice, so the Lions may have to turn to Kellen Davis and Jordan Thompson at tight end against the Falcons in London.
Calvin Johnson (ankle) remained sidelined at Wednesday's practice.
Megatron traveled with the Lions to London for their game against the Lions, but most believe Johnson won't play, and that he was only brought across the pond help the NFL's brand in Europe. Johnson resumed running this week, but Week 10, following Detroit's Week 9 bye, appears most likely for a return to the lineup.
Giants MLB Jon Beason (toe) said he's contemplating season-ending surgery, and gave himself a 50-50 chance to play again in 2014.
Beason is in Charlotte visiting Dr. Robert Anderson for at least the third time since initially hurting his foot over summer. "I’m still deciding if the smart thing is to go ahead and get it fixed and get ready for next season," Beason said. He's appeared in parts of four games this season and has yet to make a real impact at less than 100 percent. Jameel McClain has been filling in at MIKE.
The attorney for Mike and Maurkice Pouncey says the brothers won't be charged after being accused of assaulting a man over the summer.
There was an altercation at a Miami nightclub in July at the twins' birthday bash. Mike was believed to be in the clear from the start, but there had been some rumblings the state had enough evidence against Maurkice to pursue misdemeanor charges. This should be the last we hear of the story.
Dwayne Allen insisted his best play is yet to come.
"No, I don’t feel comfortable," Allen said after missing the 2013 season with a hip injury that required surgery. "It was my goal going into the season because of injuries and not having an offseason to train for this season was to get better all season long." Coach Chuck Pagano agrees that Allen is still "knocking the rust off, so to speak." Allen has seen just 30 targets this season, but has turned that into a 21-305-5 receiving line. He's one of Andrew Luck's go-to guys in the red zone at 6'3/265. We're still truly waiting for Allen to be unleashed.
Brandon Gibson confirmed he's fallen behind Jarvis Landry on the depth chart.
"It was a decision that was made and there's nothing I can do," Gibson said. Asked if there was anything he could do to leap back ahead of Landry, Gibson replied, "Nothing probably." With a $4.5 million cap hit in 2015, Gibson's days with the Dolphins are numbered. Gibson says he hasn't requested a trade.
