Phillies optioned RHP Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Gonzalez will never get a better opportunity to make the Opening Day rotation than the one he had this spring, but he blew it by posting a 7.54 ERA with 25 hits allowed over 14 1/3 innings. The Cuban defector is looking like a big-time bust to this point.

Mariners prospect Victor Sanchez died Saturday as the result of a boat accident.

Sanchez was hit by a boat while swimming in Venezuela in February, sustaining a fractured skull. He had emergency surgery and was in a coma in recent weeks, but he was just never able to recover. It's a tragedy that transcends baseball. Sanchez was 20 years old.

Danny Duffy struck out seven but allowed four runs over five innings in Saturday's win over the Diamondbacks.

The southpaw was victimized for two home runs accounting for all four runs, and he gave up seven hits and two walks on the afternoon. Duffy has a 4.91 ERA this spring but owns a spot in the Royals' starting rotation to open the season. He's an upside play for AL-only owners looking for cheap pitching.

Jeremy Hellickson allowed eight hits and three runs over 4 1/3 innings in Saturday's loss to the Royals.

Hellickson walked one and struck out three in the start. It was the continuation of a rough spring for Hellickson, who now owns a 6.00 Cactus League ERA. Even with his struggles, the right-hander has been assured a spot in the Diamondbacks' rotation when the season opens in April.

Omar Infante went 3-for-3 with two doubles and a run scored in Saturday's win over the Diamondbacks.

Infante batted leadoff in the game, reaching all three times he came to the plate. The three-hit day raised his spring average to .375 in 32 at-bats. Infante has talked about having elbow surgery after the season, but he'll play in 2015 and will be the Royals' starter at second base.

Nick Ahmed went 2-for-3 with a stolen base and a run scored in Saturday's loss to the Royals.

Ahmed also drove in a run with a sixth-inning single. The stolen base was Ahmed's third of the spring, and he's now scored nine runs in Cactus League action. With Chris Owings sidelined early, Ahmed had plenty of time to make a good impression and he has done just that. The shortstop is hitting .319 and has moved into position to be the team's Opening Day starter with just a few games left in spring.

L.J. Hoes will have X-rays taken of his right hand and wrist after being hit by a pitch Saturday.

Hoes was hit by Marlins reliever Aaron Crow in the eighth inning of Saturday's Grapefruit League game. The outfielder had his hand and wrist wrapped after the game, saying it "hurts pretty bad." More will be known after the tests, but it certainly doesn't look good for the outfielder trying to win a bench job with the Astros.

Jose Abreu went 2-for-5 with a run scored as the White Sox fell to the Athletics 10-4 on Saturday.

Humorously enough, the 2-for-5 performance actually lowered Abreu's spring average to .479 (23-for-48), which shows just how well he's hit in the Cactus League. Both hits were singles, which has been emblematic of his spring -- 19 of his 23 hits are singles -- but the power should reveal itself on a frequent basis during the regular season. Abreu belted 36 home runs and knocked in 107 runs en route to winning the AL Rookie of the Year award last year.
