Ryan Braun (calf) will be placed on the 10-day disabled list.

May 25 - 11:24 PM

Gregor Blanco went 3-for-4 with a home run and two runs scored in a win over the Brewers on Thursday.

Blanco batted leadoff and rewarded his manager's decision, leading off the game with a dong, his first this season, against Brewers starter Zach Davies. He added a pair of singles for his first three-hit game of the season. The 33-year-old isn't an offensive force by any means, but he's batted a capable .293/.341/.390 through 16 games this year for the D'backs.

Dinelson Lamet struck out eight while allowing one run over five innings in his MLB debut Thursday, a 4-3 win over the Mets.

Lamet yielded just three hits, including a Lucas Duda solo homer, while also walking two in the outing. It was a heck of a debut for the 24-year-old, who earned the shot by posting a 3.23 ERA with 50 strikeouts in 39 inning at Triple-A El Paso to start the year. It certainly won't be his last start with the big club after that kind of debut. His next test will be a serious one, coming next Tuesday against the defending champion Cubs.
May 25 - 11:13 PM

Lucas Duda went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in Thursday's loss to the Padres.

Duda was the only Mets hitter capable of doing much of anything against rookie starter Dinelson Lamet and company, homering off the right-hander in the second inning and adding an RBI single in the eighth. The home run was his fifth of the season. Overall, the first baseman is hitting .244/.392/.500 in 25 games.
May 25 - 11:13 PM

Cory Spangenberg went 2-for-4 with two RBI in a win over the Mets on Thursday.

Spangenberg had an RBI single in the first inning and then came through with what turned out to be an important RBI double in the ninth. The extra-base hit was his first since May 8, as 20 of Spangenberg's 24 hits this year have been singles. That all adds up to a pedestrian .250/.270/.313 line for the 26-year-old.
May 25 - 11:11 PM

Hunter Renfroe went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored in Thursday's win over the Mets.

Renfroe is having a strong four-game stretch, going 8-for-16 with four doubles, a homer, two RBI and four runs scored in that span. It was a much-needed stretch for the 25-year-old, who was hitting just .205 at the outset of the four games. Renfroe is batting .232/.288/.446 with nine homers through 48 games overall.
May 25 - 10:56 PM

Rafael Montero struggled in three innings of work Thursday, allowing three runs on five hits in a loss to the Padres.

Montero also walked three while striking out four. Anyone looking at the final score might not expect that the Mets' starter was so bad -- in relief of Montero, the Mets bullpen allowed just one run over the next six innings to hold it to a 4-3 game. He's now struggled in two of three starts on the year, and Montero has failed to get out of the fourth inning in any of them. That's what an 8.24 ERA and 2.54 WHIP look like, but unfortunately for the Mets, it's not like they're flush with better options right now. Still, they can probably do better than the 26-year-old their next time out.
May 25 - 10:43 PM

Brad Hand allowed a run but secured his second save of the season Thursday against the Mets.

The same day Padres manager Andy Green was noncommittal about Hand's role, he pitched the ninth for a second straight game. Hand has been stellar this year, posting a 2.00 ERA and 1.04 WHIP with a 35/11 K/BB ratio over 27 innings. San Diego Union-Tribune writer Dennis Lin has said Hand is drawing trade interest, but while he's on the Padres, he's the reliever to own, it seems.
