Rockies recalled RHP Tommy Kahnle from Triple-A Charlotte.

Kahnle held a 3.00 ERA and 12/3 K/BB ratio over his first nine relief innings for Charlotte. He's taking Daniel Webb's (elbow) spot in the bullpen.

White Sox placed RHP Daniel Webb on the 15-day disabled list with a right flexor strain.

He apparent injured his elbow in his first appearance with the big club this season on Thursday. Webb will be sidelined for a lengthy period of time.

Matt Garza (lat) resumed a throwing program on Friday.

He just did a little playing catch, as he's at the beginning of a long rehab process. Garza was moved to the 60-day disabled list on Thursday, which means he's not eligible to return until June.

George Kontos (elbow) threw a bullpen session Friday.

It's the first time he's thrown off a mound since being diagnosed with a flexor tendon strain. Kontos should be ready for a rehab assignment before long.

Twins manager Paul Molitor said Friday that there have been no indications that Glen Perkins (shoulder) is close to resuming a throwing program.

When Perkins went on the disabled list a couple weeks ago, the Twins expressed hope that he could be ready to return when he's eligible or shortly after. Obviously that turned out to be wishful thinking. Perkins has felt improvement with his left shoulder, but obviously he's a ways away from a return. Kevin Jepsen will continue to close while Perkins is out.
Apr 29 - 5:43 PM

Ervin Santana (back) will throw on flat ground Saturday.

It will be the first time he's thrown since landing on the disabled list with a lower back strain. The hope is that Santana won't be on the DL long, although obviously he's not terribly close to a return.
Apr 29 - 5:40 PM

Indians manager Terry Francona said that he's considering using Carlos Santana in right field this weekend in Philadelphia with the designated hitter spot not available.

Santana is out of the lineup on Friday, but he could give right field a shot on Saturday and/or Sunday. The 30-year-old did play the outfield a little bit in the minors but hasn't started a game there since 2008 when he was in A-ball. It could be an adventure.
Apr 29 - 5:36 PM

Alex Meyer will make his first major league start on Tuesday in Houston.

He's replacing Tommy Milone in the rotation. Meyer has started and relieved since the beginning of last season, putting up a 1.04 ERA and 19/4 K/BB ratio over 17 1/3 innings at Triple-A Rochester in 2016. He has major control issues but also a big arm, so it will be interesting to see how he fares. He's worth a shot if you're in a deep league.
