Melky Cabrera blasted a three-run homer on Friday, powering the White Sox to an 8-2 victory over the visiting Tigers.

Cabrera's three-run shot in the eighth inning capped off the scoring in the ballgame. He also added an RBI single in the sixth inning, finishing the night 3-for-5 with a pair of runs scored and four RBI. For the season, the veteran outfielder is hitting .251/.301/.357 with four homers and 25 RBI.

Avisail Garcia went 3-for-5 with a double and three RBI as the White Sox topped the Tigers in their series-opener in Chicago on Friday.

Garcia got the White Sox on the board, delivering a bases-clearing three-run double in the third inning. He's in the midst of an outstanding season, slashing a robust .341/.385/.576 with eight homers and 37 RBI.

Matt Davidson clubbed his ninth home run of the season in Friday's victory over the Tigers.

Davidson blasted a solo homer off of Blaine Hardy in the sixth inning, increasing the White Sox' advantage to 4-2. He also singled, finishing the night 2-for-4. He has been a nice addition to the lineup this season, slashing .257/.305/.541 with nine homers and 24 RBI.
May 27 - 2:53 AM

Mike Pelfrey punched out a season-high seven batters over five innings in Friday's victory over the Tigers.

The veteran right-hander allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits and a walk. He had struck out just 11 batters through 29 2/3 innings on the season entering play on Friday, so the strikeout explosion came out of nowhere. With this fine effort, he now owns a respectable 4.41 ERA and 1.21 WHIP on the season. He still isn't a recommended fantasy option for Wednesday's start against the Red Sox.
May 27 - 2:51 AM

Alex Avila blasted his sixth home run of the season as the Tigers fell to the White Sox on Friday night in Chicago.

Avila's solo shot off of Mike Pelfrey in the fifth inning pulled the Tigers to within a run at 3-2, but that would be as close as they would get. Avila has been a monster at the plate this season, slashing .354/.475/.659 with six homers and 20 RBI. With James McCann on the disabled list, he'll continue to see regular run behind the plate.
May 27 - 2:48 AM

Eduardo Nunez (hamstring) was in the starting lineup Friday against the Braves and he finished 2-for-4 with a stolen base.

He made it through the whole game and the stolen base was the best thing for fantasy owners to see, as he wouldn't have chanced stealing if his hamstring was giving him trouble. It appears safe to plug him back into the active fantasy lineup in all leagues allowing daily moves.
May 27 - 2:48 AM

Christian Arroyo was hitless in three at-bats in Friday's game against the Braves.

Arroyo's average slipped to just .186 and he is hitless over the past five games across 19 at-bats. After a hot start the prospect might be on the verge of a trip back to Triple-A Sacramento for more seasoning. Eduardo Nunez was able to play Friday and apparently is over a hamstring issue, so perhaps that might make the decision easier for the Giants to send Arroyo down.
May 27 - 2:46 AM

Matt Boyd struggled again in Friday's loss to the White Sox, surrendering three runs on nine hits in 4 2/3 innings.

The left-hander also walked two while striking out three on the night. All of the damage against him came in the third inning where Avisail Garcia delivered a three-run double. He now sits at 2-5 on the year with an uninspiring 5.40 ERA and 1.74 WHIP. The Tigers don't really have a better option to take the ball every fifth day though, so he'll remain in the rotation to work through his issues. He should be avoided for fantasy purposes despite a nice matchup against the Royals in Kansas City on Wednesday.
