Andrew Brown has been placed on the 7-day disabled list with Triple-A Las Vegas.

Brown suffered an oblique injury Sunday and is out indefinitely. He was considered among the candidates to replace the struggling Ike Davis, but Brown is now looking at missing extended time. Mets GM Sandy Alderson insists that demoting Davis is "not imminent."

David Murphy went 2-for-3 with a home run and four RBI in Sunday night's win over the Tigers.

With Ian Kinsler on the disabled list, the Rangers are using Elvis Andrus as their leadoff hitter and Murphy in the No. 2 spot. It's not exactly a deserved promotion after Murphy posted a .170/.215/.295 batting line in April, but there's not any other current options. Murphy appears to be finally healthy after missing time last week with a lower back injury.

Derek Holland allowed four runs on eight hits and lasted just 4 2/3 innings in a no-decision on Sunday night against the Tigers.

It was the first time Holland hasn't gone at least five innings in a start this season. He gave up three walks and managed to finish with six strikeouts, but couldn't overcome a pair of home runs to Miguel Cabrera. After settling for two straight no-decisions, Holland will look to get back in the win column in his next start Saturday vs. the Mariners.
May 20 - 12:07 AM

Miguel Cabrera went 4-for-4 with three home runs and five RBI in Sunday night's loss to the Rangers.

Cabrera launched a three-run homer in the third inning and a solo shot in the fifth off Derek Holland before he added a third home run late off Tanner Scheppers. The weather conditions at Arlington obviously played a factor, but it was a monster of a performance. Cabrera is currently on track to have a better season than his Triple Crown winning campaign in 2012. He has 11 home runs and leads the American League in batting average (.387), runs (34), and slugging-percentage (.659).
May 19 - 11:59 PM

Doug Fister was knocked around for five earned runs on nine hits over 4 2/3 innings in a loss on Sunday night against the Rangers.

Fister worked up a high pitch count early and had to be pulled after giving up four runs in a disastrous fifth inning. It was his first non-quality start this season and just his second loss. Fister will take a 3.62 ERA and 1.26 WHIP into a matchup with the Twins on Friday.

Scott Van Slyke is day-to-day after leaving Sunday's game with a leg injury.

Van Slyke fouled a pitch off his left leg and had to be removed from the game. The injury isn't considered serious and the Dodgers expect him to available for the start of Monday's series against the Brewers.

Carlos Ruiz (hamstring) will undergo an MRI on Monday.

Ruiz left Sunday's game with a right hamstring strain and is likely headed to the disabled list. The Phillies are expected to call up Humberto Quintero to replace him on the active roster.
May 19 - 10:24 PM

Cameron Maybin (wrist) could begin a rehab assignment Friday.

Maybin was recently cleared to resume hitting activities and hasn't had any setbacks. On the disabled list since April 17, he's now close to returning to the Padres. Maybin was hitting just .091/.167/.121 with no home runs prior to the injury but offers plenty of fantasy potential when he's healthy.
