Saints released or waived DE/OLB Keyunta Dawson, CB Derrius Brooks, T Jason Weaver, T/G Marcel Jones, FB Greg Jones, RB Derrick Strozier, WR Charles Hawkins and DL Lawrence Virgil.
Dawson played just over 100 snaps for the Saints last season, recording a half-sack and forcing a fumble. Strozier and Hawkins are candidates for the practice squad.
Panthers waived S Robert Lester.
A 2013 undrafted free agent, Lester appeared in 12 games as a rookie, starting four. He played 336 snaps on defense, including 35 in the Panthers' Wild Card defeat. He could earn a look on waivers.
Bucs waived S Major Wright.
Wright signed for the veteran minimum to reunite with Lovie Smith this offseason, but couldn't beat out Bradley McDougald for the backup strong safety job. He missed the Bucs' final two preseason games with a back injury. 26-year-old Wright will attract interest on waivers if healthy.
Ravens waived OLB John Simon.
The No. 129 overall pick, Simon was active for just seven games as a rookie, playing all of three snaps on defense. At 6-foot-1, 252 pounds, he's an NFL tweener. He'll search for practice-squad work.
Lions waived CB Chris Greenwood.
A 2012 fifth-round pick, Greenwood has appeared in just three NFL games. He's battled abdominal and groin injuries over the last two years.
Bengals waived DT Devon Still.
A 2012 second-rounder, Still's two seasons in Cincinnati were marked by injury and ineffectiveness. Still generated first-round hype before falling all the way to No. 53. His draft pedigree should earn him a second look, but there's been nothing to suggest he will be an effective NFLer.
Titans released LB Moise Fokou.
Fokou started 12 games for the Titans a year ago, but was one of the worst inside linebackers in the NFL. It's a trouble area for the Titans. Fokou lost a backup spot to Patrick Bailey.
Browns waived CB Leon McFadden.
The No. 68 overall pick of the 2013 draft, McFadden was active for all 16 games as a rookie, but struggled to get on the field on defense. When he did, he struggled mightily across 247 snaps. The San Diego State product is under-sized at 5-foot-10, 190 pounds.
