Jets waived/released WR Clyde Gates, OG William Campbell, LB Troy Davis, CB Brandon Dixon, LB A.J. Edds, DT Tevita Finau, DL Kerry Hyder, LB Garrett McIntyre, S Rontez Miles, TE Chris Pantale, OT Brent Qvale, CB Jeremy Reeves, OG Caleb Schlauderaff and DE Zach Thompson.

A former Dolphins fourth-rounder, Gates, 28, appeared in six games for the Jets last season, catching 12 passes. Gates annually shines in pad-less practices, but is just about out of regular-season chances.
Aug 30 - 5:16 PM

Stevan Ridley has made the 53-man roster.

Speculation over the last week had Ridley's roster spot in danger thanks to his error-repeating ways. But the Patriots were never likely to cut him as they know he's their best inside runner -- and it isn't even close. If Ridley can simply hold onto the football this season, he's going to push for double-digit touchdowns. James White has been strikingly unimpressive this preseason.
Aug 30 - 5:01 PM

Redskins placed WR Leonard Hankerson (knee) on reserve/PUP.

Hankerson tore his ACL and LCL in Week 11 of last season. He'll be eligible to return in Week 7, but the fourth-year man is buried on the depth chart. Pierre Garcon, DeSean Jackson and Andre Roberts are the clear-cut top three.
Aug 30 - 4:53 PM

Patriots waived/released LS Danny Aiken, LB Ja’Gared Davis, S Kanorris Davis, DB Daxton Swanson, S Shamiel Gary, DL Eathyn Manumaleuna, OL Chris Martin, LB Taylor McCuller and DL L.T. Tuipulotu.

Rob Ninkovich is now the only long snapper on the Patriots' 53-man roster. A move will likely be made some time in the next 48 hours.
Aug 30 - 4:42 PM

Chiefs waived/released LB Nico Johnson, DT Kyle Love, LB Alonzo Highsmith, CB Justin Rogers, S Malcolm Bronson, DL Kona Schwenke, LB Devan Walker, WR Mark Harrison, RB Charcandrick West, and WR Fred Williams.

The 99th overall pick in last year's draft, Johnson loses his roster spot to James-Michael Johnson and Josh Mauga. Bronson and Harrison are candidates for the Chiefs' practice squad.
Aug 30 - 4:39 PM

Browns waived TE/FB MarQueis Gray.

A hyped undrafted H-back last season, Gray was active for 12 games, managing eight touches. He could be headed to the practice squad.
Aug 30 - 4:29 PM

Bears waived or released DE Austen Lane, LB Jerry Franklin, WR Josh Bellamy, DT Tracy Robertson, DT Brandon Dunn, CB C.J. Wilson, WR Dale Moss, OL Ryan Groy, DL Lee Pegues, CB Al Louis-Jean and M.D. Jennings.

Lane played well in camp, but could not crack the final roster. M.D. Jennings was waived with an injury settlement. Bellamy flashed in the final preseason game, and could be re-signed once Marquess Wilson is placed on injured reserve/designated to return.
Aug 30 - 4:27 PM

Chiefs released K Ryan Succop.

Succop was only 22-of-28 on field goals last year, and had three years and $7.7M remaining on his contract. Cairo Santos, who has won the job for now, is signed for three years and $1.532M total.
