David Robertson (groin) remains on track to return from the disabled list when first eligible on April 22.

Robertson has been throwing on flat ground and will throw off a mound Thursday for the first time since landing on the DL. Shawn Kelley has been closing for the Yankees in Robertson's absence but will go back to a setup role next week.

Matt Carpenter is not in the Cardinals' lineup Wednesday.

It's simply a routine day of rest. Daniel Descalso is at third base in Carpenter's place, while Kolten Wong is holding down the leadoff spot. Peter Bourjos is also sitting out, with Jon Jay handling center field.

Matt Harrison (back) wasn't pleased with Monday's rehab start at Double-A Frisco in which he allowed three runs -- two earned -- on six hits and three walks over 3 1/3 frames.

The left-hander needed 77 pitches to get through the 3 1/3 innings. The good news is that Harrison didn't have a setback physically and remains on track to return around the end of the month. He'll be on a 95-pitch limit for Saturday's start in Frisco.

Brian Roberts (back) thinks he could be available to play on Wednesday.

Roberts is nursing a lower back strain but has been given medication and is starting to feel better. Consider him day-to-day for now, but, given his history, a trip to the DL can't be ruled out. Yangervis Solarte is starting at second base in the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader.

Jacob Turner (shoulder) could throw off a mound as soon as this weekend.

Turner will throw off flat ground for the second straight day Wednesday. The right-hander is expected to make at least one rehab start before being activated from the disabled list. Early May seems like a realistic target date.

MLB.com's Joe Frisaro reports that "it appears" Kevin Slowey will start on Sunday against the Mariners.

The Marlins are sending Brad Hand back to the bullpen after a pair of ineffective starts. Slowey holds a 4.38 ERA and 7/4 K/BB ratio over 12 1/3 relief inning this season. He put up a 4.21 ERA in 14 starts with the Marlins last season.

Adam Jones is in the Orioles' lineup Wednesday.

Jones had been slated to sit out Tuesday's game due to illness before it was rained out, but he's feeling better now and won't have to miss any action after all. The outfielder is batting .240/.278/.380 with one homer and five RBI on the young season.

Todd Dybas of the Tacoma News Tribune reports that the Mariners offered Kendrys Morales a three-year, $30 million extension after last year's All-Star break.

Knowing what he knows now, Morales surely would have accepted the offer. The M's also extended Morales a qualifying offer after the season and had multiple talks over the winter about a deal, but the first baseman/DH remains a free agent. At this point, Morales seems likely to wait until after the draft to sign so the team that gets him won't lose a first-round pick.
