Pirates promoted RHP Jesus Liranzo to Triple-A Indianapolis.

Liranzo was excellent for Double-A Altoona; throwing 12 scoreless innings over nine appearances with 18 strikeouts in that time frame. He'll touch triple-digits with his fastball, and the breaking ball is just good enough to keep hitters from sitting on the pitch. He has a chance to pitch for Pittsburgh at some point before the season ends.

Pirates released RHP Tyler Jones.

Jones appeared in 12 games for Triple-A Indianapolis this year, posting a 5.40 ERA over 16 2/3 innings with a 17/7 strikeout-to-walk ratio.

Jorge Polanco (suspended) can begin a 20-game rehab assignment in the minor leagues starting on June 12.

Polanco will be able to play 20 games at the minor league level -- essentially a spring training for the shortstop -- before being eligible to return to the Twins on July 2, assuming there are no cancelled games beforehand. The 25-year-old shortstop was suspended for testing positive for the performance-enhancing drug Stanozolol in March. He should return to being Minnesota's regular shortstop once eligible to play.

Tim Lincecum (blister) allowed one run on two hits and a walk over two-plus innings of work in his latest rehab appearance with Triple-A Round Rock on Monday.

Lincecum allowed just a walk over his first two innings before allowing two hits to begin his third inning of work. The run scored after he was pulled from the game. Lincecum has reportedly topped out at 90 mph during his rehab stint and owns a shaky 6.48 ERA and 8/6 K/BB ratio over 8 1/3 innings. He's eligible to be activated from the 60-day disabled list, but he can stay on his rehab stint until June 6. That's the more realistic target at this time. Lincecum figures to join the Rangers' bullpen eventually, but expectations should be modest.

The Angels have promoted prospect outfielder Jo Adell to High-A Inland Empire.

It's a well-deserved promotion for the 2017 first-round pick. Adell mashed for Low-A Burlington to the tune of a .326/.398/.611 batting line with six homers and four steals over 25 games. The 19-year-old was ranked as the No. 46 prospect in the game by Baseball America back in January and he's done nothing to hurt that standing. He's one of the more exciting outfield prospects in the minors. Brandon Marsh, another promising outfield prospect for the Angels, was also recently promoted to High-A.

Astros OF prospect Drew Ferguson went 3-for-4 with a run scored on Monday for Triple-A Fresno.

Ferguson also walked, and by reaching four times he raises his on-base percentage to a rather healthy .448 on the season. He's hitting for average, too (.329), and his .450 slugging percentage shows that he's making hard contact, as well. Ferguson has a line-drive stroke, and he's a stolen base threat with his above-average speed as well. It will be hard for him to find a ton of playing time as long as he's in the Houston system, but there's enough talent here for him to become a regular. He just might need a trade in order for it to become reality.

Rangers RHP prospect Tyler Phillips pitched seven scoreless innings for Low-A Hickory on Monday.

This makes three straight starts for Phillips where he hasn't allowed an earned run, or a total of 17 1/3 innings. A 16th-round pick out of Florida Manatee-Sarasota Junior College in 2015, Phillips has a fastball that gets into the mid 90s, and he complements it with a solid change and slider combination. His command has improved leaps and bounds, as seen in his five walks over 44 innings. This his more of a high-floor than high-ceiling prospect, but Phillips has a chance to become a member of a rotation someday, likely near the end of the decade.

Tigers manager Ron Gardenhire said Jeimer Candelario (wrist) could require a brief minor league rehab assignment.

Candelario is eligible to return from the disabled list on Wednesday, so that's not likely to happen, but he's progressing. The 24-year-old has been dealing with the wrist issue for a long time, but the hope is that he can play through it and avoid surgery. The rest should help.
