Josh Johnson (elbow) will be shut down from throwing due to a nerve issue in his neck.

Working his way back from Tommy John surgery, Johnson has now had setbacks with his triceps and now his neck. The good news is that the nerve issue doesn't appear to be a big deal. However, obviously he can't be counted on anytime soon.

Wil Myers will undergo scans on Tuesday to check the healing of his left wrist.

Myers said Monday that he's feeling better, but the Padres want to see how his tendinitis is progressing before he's cleared to do anything. The outfielder hasn't played in two weeks and it doesn't sound like he's going to be back in the near future.

Mariners manager Lloyd McClendon said Monday that the club will make a decision on when Austin Jackson (ankle) will be activated "sometime this week."

The Mariners will end a string of six straight games on artificial turf on Wednesday, so the team could decide to just activate Jackson at the beginning of an 11-game homestand on Thursday. He's been out since early May with a sprained right ankle. "I'm told he's moving pretty good, so we'll see," McClendon said.

Jesse Hahn was on his game Monday, going the distance for his first career shutout in a 4-0 victory over the Tigers.

Hahn's defense didn't make things easy on him, as he had to navigate around three errors behind him. Three double-play balls helped, as did just one walk and five strikeouts. All four of the Tigers' hits were just singles. After a 5/3 K/BB ratio over his first three starts of the season, Hahn has a 31/9 K/BB ratio since in six outings. He'll bring an improving 3.69 ERA into a home matchup with the Yankees this weekend.

Shane Greene started great but was undone by one bad inning Monday, yielding four runs over 5 2/3 frames in a loss to the Athletics.

Greene held the A's off the scoreboard for the first five innings of the game but was then touched up for five hits and four runs in the decisive four-run sixth inning. The right-hander allowed eight hits on the day but didn't walk anyone and struck out four. He'll take a 4.27 ERA into Anaheim this weekend.

Josh Reddick went 2-for-4 with a triple and a run scored in Monday's win over the Tigers.

The outfielder was part of the Athletics' decisive four-run sixth inning, notching a three-bagger as the second hitter of the frame before scoring their second run. Reddick got a late start to the season due to an oblique injury but has been raking since his returning, sporting a .314/.382/.536 batting line.
May 25 - 7:00 PM

Athletics signed LHP Joe Paterson to a minor league contract.

Paterson was cut loose by the Royals recently after holding a 5.68 ERA over 12 relief appearances at Triple-A Omaha. He'll provide some lefty relief depth for the A's.
May 25 - 6:24 PM

Brett Lawrie (back) is expected to return to the lineup Tuesday.

Lawrie has missed the last three games with back tightness, but he's apparently made improvement. The third baseman is batting .279/.310/.364 with two home runs and 16 RBI this season for the A's.
