Zach Britton (ankle) threw a 10-pitch bullpen session Wednesday without issue.

Britton has been on the shelf since spraining his left ankle last Saturday, but his return now appears imminent. Darren O'Day has been serving as the O's fill-in closer and earned his second save of 2016 on Tuesday.

Eugenio Suarez went 3-for-4 with three RBI in the Reds' 7-4 win over the Giants on Wednesday.

Suarez slugged a two-run homer off Giants starter Jake Peavy in the bottom of the second -- one of three homers in that frame versus Peavy. The third baseman then added an RBI single in the bottom of the third. Suarez has been slumping a bit since his hot start, but he now boasts six homers and 18 RBI in just 27 games.

Dan Straily picked up his first win of the season Wednesday in the Reds' defeat of the Giants.

Straily wasn't great, yielding three runs on six hits and two walks, but he thoroughly out-dueled Giants starter Jake Peavy. Straily is sitting on a 3.56 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, and 26/14 K/BB ratio in 30 1/3 innings (four starts, three relief appearances) this season for the Reds. He carries some matchup-to-matchup fantasy intrigue. A home start against the Pirates is next.

Reds OF prospect Aristides Aquino homered for the fifth time in six games Tuesday in a win for High-A Daytona.

Aquino also added two singles. He's plated 11 runs over that span while increasing his average from .157 to .250. Aquino has also gotten busy on the base paths, recording steals in consecutive games. The 22-year-old needs just two more homers to tie his total from last season. He leads the team in both slugging percentage (.467) and OPS (.804).

Jake Peavy was hammered for seven earned runs in six innings Wednesday as the Giants fell to the Reds.

Peavy struck out eight and only issued one walk, but the Cincinnati offense tagged him for eight hits and four of those hits were home runs. The veteran right-hander now has a 9.00 ERA through six starts this season.

Rangers optioned C Brett Nicholas to Triple-A Round Rock.

Nicholas was sporting an impressive .876 OPS with four doubles and two home runs in 10 games for the Rangers, but Texas will go with Bryan Holaday and the newly-acquired Bobby Wilson as its catcher tandem.

Rangers LHP prospect Victor Payano contributed 6 2/3 shutout innings Tuesday in a win for Double-A Frisco.

The 6 2/3-inning effort matched his longest outing of the year. He held San Antonio to four hits while logging a career-best 13 strikeouts. That's the team's highest individual strikeout total since Robbie Erlin collected 14 in 2011. The 23-year-old did not allow a walk for the first time all season. Payano is undefeated in five starts this year.

Mets 1B prospect Dominic Smith matched a career-high with four RBI Tuesday in a win for Double-A Binghamton.

The 20-year-old collected his third home run of the season as Binghamton cruised to a 13-2 win over Portland. Smith's last four-RBI game came on May 31, 2015 while playing for High-A St. Lucie. He's hit a ridiculous .349 over his last 11 games after batting just .171 over his first 11 contests. Smith is now second in the Eastern League with 20 RBI. The former first-round pick led the Florida State League with 79 RBI in 2015.
