David Ortiz hit a solo home run in a 1-for-4 effort as the Red Sox took down the Blue Jays on Tuesday.

Ortiz made it a 4-0 game when he slugged a solo home run off of Marco Estrada in the third inning. He's gone yard in two of his last three games, giving him 13 on the year with 36 RBI and a .228/.313/.422 triple-slash line.

Danny Salazar held the Rays to two runs -- one earned -- on just two hits over 7 2/3 innings in a 6-2 win Tuesday.

Salazar yielded just one hit over seven scoreless innings before Asdrubal Cabrera hit an RBI double in the eighth. Another run scored on a throwing error before Salazar was removed. The start was a necessary turn after two subpar outings his last two times out. The right-hander will carry a 3.80 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 101/24 K/BB ratio into Sunday's interleague matchup against the Pirates.

Jose Reyes went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run, but the Blue Jays were bested on Tuesday by the Red Sox.

Reyes' two-run blast came in the seventh inning off of Tommy Layne and brought the Jays right back into the game. The shortstop has had a quiet year at the plate, batting .267/.302/.386 with four home runs, 27 RBI, and 10 stolen bases.
Jun 30 - 10:24 PM

Marco Estrada yielded four runs (two earned) in 2 1/3 innings, suffering a loss against the Red Sox on Tuesday.

Estrada flirted with a perfect game in his previous outing, so he really stunk by comparison. The right-hander was hurt by a Devon Travis error on leadoff hitter Mookie Betts' grounder, which helped lead to two runs scoring. But Estrada also walked four and allowed three hits while striking out only one batter. He'll try for better results next time when he takes on the Tigers in Detroit. He now has a 3.58 ERA with a 1.15 WHIP and a 64/27 K/BB ratio over 75 1/3 innings.
Jun 30 - 10:21 PM

Eduardo Rodriguez held the Blue Jays to one run in six innings to earn the win on Tuesday.

The lone run came around in the fourth inning on Chris Colabello's RBI single. It was one of only four hits Rodriguez allowed on the evening along with two walks and four strikeouts. It was a nice bounce-back effort as he was shelled in his previous outing. The rookie carries a 3.92 ERA with a 1.11 WHIP and a 36/13 K/BB ratio over 41 1/3 innings. He'll match up with the Astros in a home start next.
Jun 30 - 10:17 PM

Shawn Tolleson allowed a run but still grabbed his 11th save as the Rangers hung on for an 8-6 win against the Orioles on Tuesday.

Tolleson got two quick outs on ground outs, but walked J.J. Hardy. Hardy moved to second on defensive indifference, then Travis snider knocked him in with a single to right field. Tolleson bounced back and struck out Ryan Flaherty to end the game. The right-hander has yet to blow a save in 11 chances and now has a 2.67 ERA wtih a 34/7 K/BB ratio over 33 2/3 innings.
Jun 30 - 10:11 PM

Asdrubal Cabrera had an RBI double and a run scored in Tuesday's loss to the Indians.

Cabrera's hit was just the second of the game for the Rays, who were kept mostly in check by Indians starter Danny Salazar. The run batted in and run scored gave Cabrera 20 RBI and 24 runs scored on the year. He's hitting just .226/.280/.357 overall.
Jun 30 - 10:11 PM

Pirates sent OF Jose Tabata outright to Triple-A Indianapolis.

He cleared waivers after being designated for assignment. Tabata has the right to declare free agency, but that won't happen since it would mean forfeiting his $4 million salary.
