Trevor Williams allowed four runs over six innings on Sunday in a no decision against the Padres.

Williams didn’t put any runners on via walk, and he was able to strike out five against the San Diego lineup. The only big mistake for the right-hander was a two-run homer to Christian Villanueva, and outside of that Williams kept the San Diego lineup from inflicting much damage. The former Marlins prospect now owns a solid ERA of 3.05 on the season, with a WHIP of 1.05 for good measure. It’ll be tough to keep that up all year considering he doesn’t miss many bats (40 strikeouts in 59 innings), but he’ll try to keep up the good run against the Cardinals on Saturday.

Nationals placed RHP Ryan Madson on the 10-day DL with a pectoral strain.

Madson was unavailable on Sunday due to the issue and it appears he'll be sidelined a bit longer. No corresponding move has been announced yet.

Jordan Lyles gave up four runs in 5 ⅔ innings in a no decision on Sunday against the Pirates.

Lyles wasn’t close to the dominant effort we saw in his previous start where he flirted with a perfect game, as he allowed seven hits and walked two against Pittsburgh. Two of those hits were homers, and Lyles now owns a 3.11 ERA on the 2018 campaign. He’ll be back on the mound on Sunday against the Dodgers.

Christian Villanueva went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer in an 8-5 victory over the Pirates on Sunday.

The homer gives Villanueva 12 on the season, and this one came off of Trevor Williams in the fourth inning to give the Padres a 2-1 lead. The hits haven't fallen like they were early in the season, but the 26-year-old infielder has still posted an impressive line of .250/.322/.568 along with the dozen homers and 26 RBI over 39 games. It also makes back-to-back games with homers on the season, so another streak could be coming.

Dodgers' manager Dave Roberts confirmed Sunday that Alex Wood was pulled from his start early due to cramps.

It doesn't sound like anything that should be an issue moving forward, which is good news for fantasy owners. Consider him day-to-day.
May 20 - 5:05 PM

Mike Minor struck out nine while allowing three runs over five innings in Sunday's loss to the White Sox.

Minor gave up six hits without issuing a walk, but a solo homer in the second inning and three singles in the third were enough to do him in. It was a step in the right direction, even if it still went down as a loss, but there hasn't been a whole lot for Minor to feel good about in recent weeks. With Sunday's loss, he dropped to 3-3 with a 5.59 ERA and 1.32 WHIP in nine starts this year. The Royals offer a softer opponent for the southpaw, and we'll see if he can take advantage of it when the two sides meet Saturday.

Adam Jones went 3-for-4 in a loss to the Red Sox on Sunday.

All three hits were singles for Jones. It's been a very disappointing season for the long-time Baltimore outfielder, and he's still hitting just .267/.284/.439 on his 2018 campaign with seven homers and an ugly 38/4 strikeout-to-walk ratio.
May 20 - 5:02 PM

Welington Castillo went 2-for-3 with his sixth home run of the season in Sunday's win over the Rangers.

Castillo took Rangers starter Mike Minor deep in the second inning to get the Sox on the board, and it turned out to be the difference in the game with Reynaldo Lopez putting on a clinic on the other side. Castillo has six homers and 14 RBI in 30 games this year. The veteran backstop is hitting a respectable .260/.306/.471 overall.
