Austin Meadows went 3-for-4 with a homer in a loss to the Padres on Sunday.

The homer is the first of Meadows' big-league career, and it came off of Jordan Lyles with a runner on in the sixth inning. Since being called up on Friday, the 23-year-old outfielder has been impressive with a .455 average and .722 slugging percentage, albeit in only three games.

Leury Garcia went 2-for-4 with a two-run single in a win over the Rangers on Sunday.

After a Welington Castillo solo homer got the Sox on the board, Garcia extended the lead with a two-out, two-run single in the third inning. He's started to come around a bit at the dish in recent days, collecting nine hits in his last 26 at-bats with a homer and a steal sprinkled in. The 27-year-old is hitting .268/.311/.375 in 36 games while appearing at four different positions this year.

Brad Hand walked two hitters, but pitched a scoreless ninth inning to pick up a save on Sunday against the Pirates.

Hand now has 14 saves on the season, and he's blown only two opportunities in 2018. The left-handed stopper didn't have his best stuff or command, but he was able to escape unscathed against the Pirates lineup. Hand likely won't be on the trade market after signing a three-year extension, but he's still fantasy relevant despite playing for a not-so-good San Diego team because of his reliability.
May 20 - 5:14 PM

Tim Anderson had a single, stolen base and run scored in Sunday's win over the Rangers.

Anderson singled in the third inning, then stole second base and scored on a Leury Garcia two-run single. Anderson now has 11 steals on the year, tied for third-most in the American League and fifth-best in the majors. The 11 stolen bases and his seven homers are certainly nice, but the 24-year-old has struggled to a .234/.292/.405 line overall.
May 20 - 5:10 PM

Trevor Williams allowed four runs over six innings on Sunday in a no decision against the Padres.

Williams didn’t put any runners on via walk, and he was able to strike out five against the San Diego lineup. The only big mistake for the right-hander was a two-run homer to Christian Villanueva, and outside of that Williams kept the San Diego lineup from inflicting much damage. The former Marlins prospect now owns a solid ERA of 3.05 on the season, with a WHIP of 1.05 for good measure. It’ll be tough to keep that up all year considering he doesn’t miss many bats (40 strikeouts in 59 innings), but he’ll try to keep up the good run against the Cardinals on Saturday.
May 20 - 5:09 PM

Nationals placed RHP Ryan Madson on the 10-day DL with a pectoral strain.

Madson was unavailable on Sunday due to the issue and it appears he'll be sidelined a bit longer. No corresponding move has been announced yet.
May 20 - 5:09 PM

Jordan Lyles gave up four runs in 5 ⅔ innings in a no decision on Sunday against the Pirates.

Lyles wasn’t close to the dominant effort we saw in his previous start where he flirted with a perfect game, as he allowed seven hits and walked two against Pittsburgh. Two of those hits were homers, and Lyles now owns a 3.11 ERA on the 2018 campaign. He’ll be back on the mound on Sunday against the Dodgers.
May 20 - 5:08 PM

Christian Villanueva went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer in an 8-5 victory over the Pirates on Sunday.

The homer gives Villanueva 12 on the season, and this one came off of Trevor Williams in the fourth inning to give the Padres a 2-1 lead. The hits haven't fallen like they were early in the season, but the 26-year-old infielder has still posted an impressive line of .250/.322/.568 along with the dozen homers and 26 RBI over 39 games. It also makes back-to-back games with homers on the season, so another streak could be coming.
