Zack Greinke (oblique) is expected to make an appearance in an Arizona League game on Friday.
Greinke made it through a 40-pitch simulated game Tuesday and should be cleared to begin a minor league rehab assignment if he wakes up Wednesday feeling fine. He could return to the Diamondbacks after just one minor league outing. The ace right-hander has been sidelined since June 29 because of a left oblique strain.
Diamondbacks manager Chip Hale said he's hopeful Jake Lamb (hand) can return Friday.
Lamb has been dealing with a bruised left hand. He went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts on Monday night against the Brewers and is hitless over his last five games. The hope is the 25-year-old third baseman can get back to cranking homers with a bit of rest and rehab.
Yasiel Puig (hamstring) is out of the Dodgers' lineup Tuesday for the fifth consecutive game.
Puig has been sidelined since tweaking his right hamstring last Thursday. He was able to pinch-hit Friday but hasn't been heard from since. Andrew Toles is starting in right field on Tuesday night against the Rays.
Ryan Hanigan was scratched from the Red Sox lineup Tuesday due to flu-like symptoms.
Sandy Leon will start behind the plate against the Tigers. Hanigan is considered day-to-day.
Joey Gallo is starting at first base and batting sixth on Tuesday night against the Athletics.
Mitch Moreland is at designated hitter and Jurickson Profar is starting at shortstop. Gallo will probably get the majority of his playing time at first base, with Moreland seeing a dip in action. The 22-year-old slugger was sporting a .949 OPS with 19 home runs and 47 RBI in 70 games this season at Triple-A Round Rock.
Desmond Jennings (hamstring) is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment Tuesday with High-A Charlotte.
He's been working out with the Charlotte Stone Crabs since the weekend and has now been cleared to play in live games. Jennings will probably spend the rest of this week in the minor leagues. He has been out since July 1 because of a left hamstring strain.
Orioles designated OF Julio Borbon for assignment.
Borbon was 2-for-9 in his short stay at the major league level. He will probably clear waivers.
Logan Morrison (wrist) is out of the Rays' lineup again on Tuesday against the Dodgers.
Morrison has been out a full week because of tendinitis in his wrist and forearm. Steve Pearce is starting at first base for Tampa Bay on Tuesday night.
