Pirates prospect RHP Tyler Glasnow struck out 11 batters in six scoreless innings Tuesday for High-A Bradenton.

He scattered four hits and walked two in the outing. No pitcher in the minor leagues has been as dominant as Glasnow over the last two-plus months, as he owns a 7-1 record, 0.98 ERA, .169 opponents' batting average and 72-21 strikeout-to-walk ratio over his last 55 1/3 innings spanning 10 starts. The 20-year-old's season at Bradenton is shaping up to be a lot like his 2013 full-season debut, as he's been difficult to barrel (.178 BAA) while missing bats at a high rate (10.6 K/9). However, it's doubtful Glasnow receives a promotion to Double-A until his command improves and he's able to cut some of the free passes (4.5 BB/9) from his game.

Taijuan Walker is expected to be sent down following Wednesday's start.

The Mariners have an off day Monday and plan to go with four starters for a while. Walker could potentially change their mind with a nice effort Wednesday, but it sounds like the top prospect will have a short stay with the big club.

Rangers prospect 3B Joey Gallo went 4-for-7 with a home run and five RBI on Tuesday in a double header for Double-A Frisco.

The 20-year-old slugger went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in game one of the double dip, and then followed it with a 3-for-4, three RBI performance in the night cap. The home run was Gallo's 32nd of the season, which puts him one back of Kris Bryant (33 HR) for the minor league lead. Meanwhile, he now has six hits in his last 10 at-bats at Frisco after going 3-for-22 with 13 strikeouts following his impressive showing in the Futures Games.

Indians prospect SS Francisco Lindor went 1-for-5 with a stolen base and run scored on Tuesday in his debut with Triple-A Columbus.

He also struck out twice in the game. Lindor, 20, was promoted to Triple-A after batting .278/.352/.389 with 51 runs scored, 22 extra-base hits, 25 stolen bases and a 61-40 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 88 games at Double-A Akron. The slick-fielding shortstop should receive his first taste of the major leagues later this season before taking over for free-agent-to-be Asdrubal Cabrera at the position in 2015.
Jul 23 - 2:33 PM

Mets prospect 2B Dilson Herrera went 3-for-4 with a home run and triple on Tuesday for Double-A Binghamton.

The three-hit performance extended Herrera's hitting streak to 10 games, during which he's batted a robust .447/.477/.842 with nine extra-base hits and 11 RBI. In general, the 20-year-old has been on fire since reaching Double-A late last month, with an impressive .359/.421/.581 batting line, 16 extra-base hits (four home runs), 26 RBI and five stolen bases in just 29 games. On the season, Herrera is batting .323/.375/.460 with seven home runs, four triples, 26 doubles, 49 RBI and 19 steals through 96 games between the High-A and Double-A levels.

Blue Jays sent RHP Sergio Santos outright to Triple-A Buffalo.

The Jays had designated the disappointing reliever for assignment earlier in the week. He could get another chance later this season if he irons out his issues at Buffalo.

Cubs prospect OF Eloy Jimenez went 3-for-5 with a home run, double and two RBI on Tuesday for the Rookie-level Cubs in the Arizona League.

Jimenez, 17, is making his stateside debut this season after signing with the Cubs last summer out of the Dominican Republic for $2.8 million. The 6-foot-4, 205-pound outfielder has now hit safely in six of the past seven games, with a .333 batting average and three extra-base hits during that span. Overall, Jimenez has batted .286/.333/.500 with two home runs, four doubles and eight RBI through his first 15 games in the Arizona League.

Phillies recalled RHP Phillippe Aumont from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Aumont has allowed four runs over 1 2/3 relief innings with the big club this season. The former top prospect still throws hard but control issues have kept him from reaching his potential.
