Athletics optioned OF Craig Gentry to Triple-A Nashville.

The A's have chosen to keep Billy Burns around instead. Gentry has just three hits in 35 at-bats this season.

Athletics activated OF Coco Crisp from the 15-day disabled list.

Crisp needed just two rehab games to show the A's he was ready, beating his original timetable to return from elbow surgery by a couple weeks. He could be eased back into the lineup but will eventually settle in as the regular left fielder. Craig Gentry has been sent down in a corresponding move.

Rangers prospect Joe Jackson finished a double shy of the cycle Tuesday in a win for High-A High Desert.

Jackson's solo shot in the second inning was his first of the season. Prior to Tuesday, Jackson had been hitless in his last eight at-bats with four strikeouts. This is Jackson's second full season in the minors after hitting .293 in 86 games for Low-A Hickory in 2014. The 23-year-old is a distant relative of the famous "Shoeless" Joe Jackson.

Rockies prospect Tommy Murphy crushed a walk-off homer Tuesday for Double-A New Britain.

The blast was Murphy's second of the game. Murphy's six RBI Tuesday tied a career-high. Colorado's No. 8 prospect is off to a sizzling start, batting .337 with an OPS north of 1.000. Murphy belted 22 homers during his last full season, so his power is definitely real. Don't be surprised if he gets the call to Triple-A later this season.

Dodgers pitching prospect Jose De Leon notched his second win of the year Tuesday for High-A Rancho Cucamonga.

He finished the outing with 12 strikeouts, giving him 38 in 25 innings this season. De Leon only allowed one hit Tuesday and opponents are now batting just .180 versus the right-hander. A 24th-round pick in the 2013 draft, De Leon is finally coming into his own. Including last season, he's now 9-1 in his last 19 appearances.

Jake Peavy (back) could be cleared to begin a rehab assignment if he gets through another bullpen session on Friday with no issues.

It's not clear at this point how many rehab starts he'll need. Peavy has battled back issues since the beginning of the season, being limited to two starts.

Giants general manager Bobby Evans said in an interview on SiriusXM Wednesday that Hunter Pence (forearm) will need 7-10 rehab games.

Bruce Bochy said Tuesday that Pence could begin a rehab assignment within the next week, so the beginning of three-game home series against the Dodgers on 19 looks to be a probable return date if all goes well. Pence will continue taking batting practice through Friday before likely officially being cleared for an assignment to a minor league affiliate.

Red Sox pitching prospect Henry Owens bounced back with a strong effort Tuesday for Triple-A Pawtucket, limiting Toledo to one run on five hits over six innings.

Owens' first full season in Triple-A has been rocky at times but Tuesday's outing shows that he's headed down the right track. His real problem this year has been walks, allowing 19 free passes in only 27 innings of work. The 22-year-old has offset his high walk totals by holding opponents to a stingy .194 average. With Boston's starting rotation in shambles, there's a good chance Owens will see action at the big league level this year.
