Bruce Chen picked up a victory in Tuesday's Cactus League outing against the Mariners despite allowing four runs on eight hits over 4 1/3 innings.

The veteran southpaw did manage to record five strikeouts on the day without issuing a walk, though he did serve up a pair of home runs. He'll take his 6.08 ERA down to Triple-A Columbus where he'll function as rotational depth in the event that the Indians suffer a multitude of injuries in their rotation.

Nelson Cruz clobbered his fourth home run of the Cactus League season as the Mariners fell to the Indians on Tuesday.

Not to diminish the fact that he hit one out of the yard, but it was served up by Bruce Chen. Cruz finished the afternoon 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI and is now hitting .333 (14-for-44) with four homers and 10 RBI. He already looks to be in midseason form.

Felix Hernandez was obliterated by the Indians in Tuesday's Cactus League start, surrendering seven runs on five hits over 1 2/3 innings.

King Felix walked a pair and struck out two on the afternoon. The 28-year-old hurler falls to 0-3 on the spring to go along with a troublesome 10.22 ERA in 12 1/3 spring innings. Despite the struggles in Cactus League play, he remains one of the best and most reliable hurlers in the American League and should be selected as such in fantasy drafts.

Braves purchased the contract of INF/OF Kelly Johnson from Triple-A Gwinnett.

Johnson hit .286 with a couple homers this spring. The 33-year-old gives the Braves a utility option capable of filling in at first base, second base, third base and the corner outfield spots.

Justin Maxwell went 3-for-3 and drove home three runs on Tuesday, leading the Giants to a 4-3 victory over the Rockies in Cactus League play.

Maxwell got the Giants on the board with an RBI single in the second inning then added a sacrifice fly in the fourth. He would later come through with a clutch RBI single in the eighth inning to tie the game at 3-3. He has had a strong spring, hitting .349 (21-for-60) with a pair of homers and 14 RBI, earning a spot on the Opening Day roster as a reserve outfielder.
Mar 31 - 10:02 PM

Tim Lincecum struggled again in Tuesday's Cactus League start against the Rockies, surrendering three runs on eight hits over his 5 2/3 innings.

Lincecum also issued three free passes while punching out three on the afternoon. All of the damage against him came on one swing of the bat by Nolan Arenado in the fifth inning. Despite a 6.27 spring ERA, he'll open the season as the fifth starter in the Giants' Opening Day rotation.
Mar 31 - 9:55 PM

Nolan Arenado blasted his fifth Cactus League home run in a losing effort against the Giants on Tuesday.

He got the Rockies on the board in the fifth inning with a three-run shot off Giants starter Tim Lincecum, providing the extent of the Rockies offense on the day. That was his lone hit in five at-bats in the ballgame. The 23-year-old is having a strong spring, hitting .286 (16-for-56) with five homers and 14 RBI.
Mar 31 - 9:52 PM

Tyler Matzek wasn't at his best in Tuesday's Cactus League tuneup against the Giants, allowing two runs on four hits over his four frames.

The 24-year-old hurler walked a pair and struck out two in the contest. Despite his 6.00 ERA this spring, he has already secured a spot in the Rockies' Opening Day rotation. While he's difficult to trust at home, he'll provide NL-only value when skimming his road starts.
