Elvis Andrus left the Rangers' team workout Sunday with minor soreness in his left knee.

Andrus paid a visit to Dr. Keith Meister, who told Rangers general manager Jon Daniels that it's not a significant injury. The 26-year-old shortstop may take it easy for a couple of days, but he should get into Cactus League games soon enough. He's trying to get his career back on track after batting just .263/.314/.333 in 2014. Andrus was also caught stealing on 15 of his 42 stolen base attempts last year.

Chase Utley won't appear in any spring games this week due to lingering ankle soreness.

Utley suffered a mild ankle sprain during a workout in January and the Phillies are easing him along in camp. The 36-year-old second baseman is not yet in danger of missing any regular-season action. He should only need around 40-50 at-bats in the Grapefruit League.

Derek Holland (shoulder) plans to play catch Monday.

Holland was scratched from an appearance in an intrasquad game Sunday due to discomfort in his left shoulder, but the belief is that it's just routine spring soreness. The 28-year-old southpaw is aiming for a big bounceback 2015 after logging just 37 innings in 2014. He had microfracture knee surgery last January.

Alex Rodriguez is serving as the designated hitter Monday in an intrasquad game.

The game will be played with pitching machines rather than live throwers, so it's more of a drill than a scrimmage. A-Rod arrived at Yankees camp last Monday and seems to be getting along with the other players and coaches just fine. He's been taking some reps at first base but will likely get most of his playing time at DH in 2015.

Adam Wainwright (abdomen) threw over 30 pitches in a bullpen session Monday in Cardinals camp.

Wainwright mixed in a variety of pitches and drew positive reviews from onlookers. It was his first time on a mound since being diagnosed last week with an abdominal strain. "His arm feels good," manager Mike Matheny told reporters after the workout. "It’s in a great slot. Everything’s coming out nice, he’s just got to stay on top of it." The veteran right-hander is on track to start for the Cardinals on Opening Night against the Cubs.

Mariners manager Lloyd McClendon acknowledged to reporters Monday that Dustin Ackley will be in a left-field platoon this season with Rickie Weeks.

Ackley has batted just .236/.295/.342 in his career against left-handed pitching so the M's will pair him with the right-handed-hitting Weeks, who was signed to a one-year, $2 million free agent contract last month. It's a bad situation for fantasy purposes.

James Paxton (forearm) is expected to throw his first bullpen session of the spring on Tuesday.

Paxton fell awkwardly on both of his arms during one of the first workouts of Mariners camp and has been taking it easy for the past couple of weeks. The left-hander should be 100 percent by the beginning of the 2015 regular season. He owns a shiny 2.66 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, and 80/36 K/BB ratio in 98 career major league innings.

Adam Wainwright (abdomen) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session Monday in Cardinals camp.

Wainwright suffered an abdominal strain last week while placing a 45 lb. weight back on a rack at the Cardinals' spring training complex. He expects to make his Grapefruit League debut by mid-March and is still a possibility for the club's Opening Night start at Wrigley Field. The abdominal discomfort doesn't really affect his throwing motion.
