Rafael Soriano pitched a scoreless innings against the Cardinals on Friday for his fourth save of the season.

Soriano issued a one-out walk to Mark Ellis, but he was able to get Shane Robinson to ground into a double play to end it. The veteran right-hander hander has a 10/1 K/BB ratio over seven scoreless frames so far this season.

Michael Wacha took the loss Friday after giving up three runs -- one earned -- over seven innings against the Nationals.

The Nationals pulled ahead in the bottom of the seventh inning after Wacha threw a wild pitch and Yadier Molina made a throwing error. Rough way to lose. Wacha gave up five hits (including a solo home run) and no walks while fanning seven batters. The 22-year-old owns a 1.73 ERA and 25/3 K/BB ratio in 26 innings across his first four starts, so he has been worthy of the hype early on.

Anthony Rendon launched a solo homer in Friday's win over the Cardinals.

Rendon is off to a fantastic start this season, hitting .313 ( 21-for-67) with 10 extra-base hits (three home runs) and 13 RBI in 17 games. We figured he'd be a good bet to hit for average this season, but the early power is a pleasant surprise.

Mark Ellis had an RBI single and a walk Friday against the Nationals.

Ellis has made two starts since coming off the disabled list, but youngster Kolten Wong should still get most of the playing time at second base. Look for the 37-year-old to get spot starts against left-handers, like he did Friday night against Gio Gonzalez.
Apr 18 - 10:00 PM

Allen Craig went 2-for-4 with a run scored against the Nationals on Friday.

Craig had two of the Cardinals' five hits on the night. The 29-year-old has now hit in seven straight games, though this was his first multi-hit game of the season. We expect the RBIs to be there soon.
Apr 18 - 9:59 PM

Denard Span (concussion) went 1-for-2 with a walk in a minor league rehab game with Low-A Hagerstown on Friday.

Assuming he feels well enough afterwards, he'll be activated from the disabled list and is expected to rejoin the Nationals starting lineup on Saturday. The 30-year-old got off to a slow start with the bat, slashing .222/.300/.361 with four RBI in his first 10 games.
Apr 18 - 8:28 PM

Michael Morse (hamstring) is not in the Giants starting lineup on Friday.

Giants manager Bruce Bochy said that he's dealing with minor hamstring tightness. He's expected to return to the Giants lineup on Saturday.
Apr 18 - 8:21 PM

Jordy Mercer was removed from Friday's game against the Brewers in the fourth inning due to an ankle injury.

Mercer sustained the injury earlier in the game when he was spiked while trying to turn a double play at second base. No word yet on the extent of the injury or how much time he may miss. Clint Barmes replaced him at shortstop.
