TR Sullivan of MLB.com reports that the Rangers are getting close to acquiring Cole Hamels from the Phillies.

While the two sides are reportedly at the finish line of a potential deal, there has been no word as to what the Phillies would receive in return. Sullivan expects a deal to be finalized on Thursday.

According to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports, the Dodgers, Yankees, Giants and Blue Jays are the four main teams vying to acquire David Price from the Tigers.

All four teams have been in contact with the Tigers. In a move that came as a surprise to virtually no one, Dave Dombrowski announced Wednesday that the Tigers would listen to offers on their impending free agents, which immediately added another elite hurler to the trade market. With four big market clubs in the bidding, expect the Tigers to net a decent haul for the All-Star left-hander.

Jon Morosi of FOX Sports reports that the Blue Jays have spoken to the Tigers about David Price on Wednesday.

It doesn't come as a surprise, as they had been rumored to have interest in the All-Star southpaw and the Tigers officially announced their stance as sellers on Wednesday. Expect talks to continue as several clubs vie to acquire one of the top arms in the market.

Jonathan Lucroy went 2-for-4 and swiped his first base of the season in Wednesday's loss to the Giants.

Lucroy was one of the few bright spots in the Brewers offense on a day where they were shutout by Jake Peavy and company. The hard-hitting backstop is now hitting .257/.317/.350 with three homers and 22 RBI in 61 games on the season.
Jul 29 - 9:34 PM

Mike Fiers logged a quality start in Wednesday's loss to the Giants, allowing only two runs on four hits over six-plus frames.

The right-hander racked up five strikeouts on the afternoon while walking one. The two teams had been locked in a scoreless tie heading into the seventh inning, where Fiers allowed the first two men to reach before turning the game over to the bullpen, who subsequently allowed the two runners to score. A popular name in trade rumblings, Fiers will take on the Padres at home on Monday if he remains a Brewer through the deadline.

Matt Holliday was removed from Wednesday's game against the Reds due to a strained right quadriceps.

It's an injury that continues to bother the veteran outfielder and could continue to throughout the remainder of the season. He will be re-evaluated on Thursday, but a trip back to the disabled list is certainly a possibility.
Jul 29 - 9:28 PM

Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports that the Braves would receive Hector Olivera from the Dodgers as part of the rumored three-team deal with the Marlins.

The Braves would send Jim Johnson and Alex Wood to the Braves and in return acquire Michael Morse, a competitive balance draft pick along with Olivera.
Jul 29 - 9:20 PM

Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports that Wilmer Flores will head to the Brewers with Zack Wheeler in exchange for outfielder Carlos Gomez.

It's unclear if he'll be utilized at shortstop for the Mets, or if he'll take over their vacancy at third base. The 23-year-old was hitting .249/.281/.379 with 10 homers and 40 RBI in 92 games with the Mets this season. It's a nice haul for the Brewers in exchange for a year-plus of Gomez.
