Falcons signed WR Eric Weems, formerly of the Bears.
Weems was released by the Bears last Saturday. Weems spent the first five years of his career in Atlanta, and could round out the Falcons' receiver corps as a linchpin special teamer.
Knowshon Moreno (knee) is expected to suit up for Saturday's preseason game.
If Moreno's not 100 percent, he's close to it. Saturday will be his last best hope to throw a wrench into Lamar Miller's re-ascension to No. 1 duties on early downs. The duo is likely to enter Week 1 as a committee, with Moreno acting as a change-of-pace back and pass protector.
Jamaal Charles (bruised foot) returned to Chiefs practice Thursday.
Charles will sit out Saturday's preseason camp against the Vikings, but he's over his dorm-room "injury." As you were.
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports the Steelers plan to let the league "handle any disciplinary measures" following Le'Veon Bell and LeGarrette Blount's Wednesday arrest.
In other words, they won't be suspended any time soon. The NFL's wheels of justice move slowly. As previously reported, both players are suiting up for Thursday's preseason game. Coach Mike Tomlin believed it would be a "reward" to suspend players for an exhibition game. What a ringing endorsement for the preseason.
Speaking Thursday, Seahawks coach Pete Carroll called Christine Michael the "most-improved player on the team."
They're well-timed comments for fantasy owners, as Michael has been running as the Seahawks' No. 3 running back this summer. Carroll's remarks are a reminder that the Seahawks remain bullish on their 2013 second-rounder. Michael's game is not as well-rounded as Turbin's at the moment, but he boasts rare raw-rushing ability. Michael could still make a 2014 impact. Dynasty-league owners have to remain patient.
Rams MLB James Laurinaitis (ankle) has resumed practicing.
Laurinaitis ended up missing nearly three weeks with a "mild" ankle sprain. The injury was to the same ankle Laurinaitis had scoped in the offseason. Despite the ankle issues, Laurinaitis should be considered ready to go for Week 1. He's never missed a game in five NFL seasons.
Redskins DE Stephen Bowen (knee) remains questionable for Week 1.
Bowen is eight months removed from microfracture surgery. He agreed to a pay-cut earlier this month, and is a strong candidate for reserve/PUP, which would cost him the first six games of the season.
Saints waived RB Tim Flanders, WR Tobais Palmer, TE Je'Ron Hamm and LB Chidera Uzo-Diribe.
Flanders and Hamm were both well-regarded undrafted rookies, but didn't shine once the pads came on. Palmer appeared in one game for the Jaguars in 2013. He could have trouble finding work as a camp body at this stage of the game.
