Redskins claimed C J.D. Walton off waivers from the Broncos.
Walton was cut by the Broncos on Tuesday. He hasn't appeared in a regular season game since Week 4 of the 2012 campaign due to a broken ankle, which he experienced a setback with last summer. Will Montgomery is the Redskins' starting center. Walton will provide depth and spend the offseason with the team.
49ers placed FB Bruce Miller on injured reserve with a shoulder injury, ending his season.
Miller suffered the injury in Sunday's win over the Bucs. He'll now miss the rest of the regular season and won't be available for the playoffs. Miller had graded out as a top-four fullback by Pro Football Focus, so it's a significant loss to the 49ers' running game. DL/FB Will Tukuafu has been re-signed to replace him on the active roster.
Joe Flacco (knee) is practicing Wednesday.
Flacco didn't require an MRI for his knee scare on Monday night and wasn't limited during individual drills at practice. He'll be all systems go for Sunday's showdown with the Patriots.
Ryan Mathews (foot) was limited in Wednesday's practice.
Coach Mike McCoy expressed zero concern over the "injury" and says Mathews will be fine for Sunday's game against the Raiders. The fourth-year back has quietly been one of the biggest surprises in the league this season. He's already eclipsed 1,000 yards on the ground in 2013 and needs just 80 more rushing yards to set a new career-high. Mathews has also appeared in every game this season, shedding the injury-prone label. He's locked in as an RB2 for Week 16.
Calvin Johnson (knee) did not practice Wednesday.
Megatron never practice on Wednesday. Adding that the Lions just played on Monday night, and he was obviously going to get the day off. Despite his uncharacteristic Week 15, Johnson is locked in as a top-four receiver this week.
Daryl Richardson (quad) did not practice Wednesday.
Richardson hasn't appeared in a game since Week 8 due to injuries and poor performance. With just two games remaining, he's a candidate to be shut down for the season.
Tavon Austin (ankle) did not practice Wednesday.
Austin was inactive last week after spraining his ankle against the Cardinals the previous game. Austin Pettis handled slot duties in his absence. Austin remains day-to-day, though coach Jeff Fisher is optimistic about his Week 16 chances. Either way, the No. 8 overall pick won't be a fantasy option Sunday.
Percy Harvin (hip) is not practicing Wednesday.
Harvin didn't practice at all last week and is still not fully recovered from his hip injury. He's not expected to play in the final two games of the regular season and likely won't return until the playoffs.
