Collin McHugh notched a quality start -- allowing three runs in six innings -- but took a no-decision in Monday's win against the Padres.

McHugh was solid, scattering seven hits while walking none and striking out five. The Padres scored all three of their runs against the right-hander in the fifth inning on a two-run Wil Myers double and a Yangervis Solarte RBI single. McHugh is off to a nice start to the season, owning a 2.92 ERA with a 1.18 WHIP and a 23/4 K/BB ratio in 24 2/3 innings. He'll try to improve 4-0 in his next start at home against the Mariners.
Apr 28 - 1:50 AM

Yangervis Solarte went 3-for-4 with an RBI single and an RBI double, but the Padres fell to the Astros on Monday.

Solarte singled in the tying run in the fifth inning, making it 3-3 at the time. In the seventh, he tied the game again with a double. Despite an impressive batting line -- .320/.370/.520 -- Monday marked his first multi-hit game since April 13. Solarte could eventually see more consistent playing time at second base if Jedd Gyorko continues to struggle.
Apr 28 - 1:47 AM

Colby Rasmus went 2-for-5 with an RBI single and a two-run home run to help the Astros take down the Padres on Monday.

Rasmus got both of his hits late, singling in a run and scoring in the eighth inning, then slugging a two-run homer in the ninth. Rasmus, who has seen a majority of his plate appearances come against right-handed pitching, is batting .273/.333/.527 with three home runs and seven RBI in 60 plate appearances.
Apr 28 - 1:43 AM

George Springer went 0-for-2 with three walks, three stolen bases, and two runs scored on Monday as the Astros beat the Padres.

In the eighth inning, Springer walked, moved to second on another walk, stole third, and came around to score on a throwing error by catcher Derek Norris. In the ninth, Springer walked again, stole second, and scored on a Colby Rasmus home run. Springer hasn't done much with the bat, hitting just .183/.302/.324, but he's 7-for-8 in the stolen base department at least.
Apr 28 - 1:40 AM

John Axford saw his way out of ninth-inning hot water, converting his third save as the Rockies won 5-4 against the Diamondbacks on Monday.

Axford allowed the tying run to reach third base when Paul Goldschmidt singled to put runners on first and third with two outs in the ninth inning. Axford was able to get the dangerous Mark Trumbo to ground out to third base to end the game. As regular closer Adam Ottavino hit the disabled list, Axford should be seeing plenty of save chances for the foreseeable future. He's 3-for-3 in save opportunities with a spotless ERA and a 6/2 K/BB ratio in five innings.
Apr 28 - 1:34 AM

Chase Anderson struggled early in a loss against the Rockies, giving up five runs in 5 1/3 innings on Monday.

Justin Morneau slugged a three-run home run in the first inning to put Anderson behind the eight-ball early. Overall, Anderson surrendered eight hits with two walks while striking out four. It was Anderson's worst start of the four he's made to this point. He'll bring a 4.24 ERA and a 20/6 K/BB ratio over 23 1/3 innings into a road start against the Dodgers next.
Apr 28 - 1:31 AM

Tyler Matzek improved to 2-0 after limiting the Diamondbacks to two runs over five innings on Monday.

Matzek had to leave after five frames due to a left hamstring cramp. Over his five innings, he worked around five hits and three walks, yielding the only two runs in his fifth and final inning. He struck out three on the evening. The lefty hasn't pitched deep into games, but sports a 2.70 ERA, 1.55 WHIP, and a 13/13 K/BB ratio in 20 innings. If Matzek's hamstring problem isn't serious, he'll match up with the Padres at Petco Park next.
Apr 28 - 1:28 AM

Corey Dickerson went 3-for-5 with an RBI single to help the Rockies eke out a win over the Diamondbacks on Monday.

Dickerson singled in a run in the second inning to push the Rockies' lead to 4-0 at the time. It's the 25-year-old's fourth multi-hit game out of his last five games. Overall, he's batting .338/.384/.632 with five home runs and 15 RBI. Dickerson is battling plantar fasciitis but it hasn't done much to hamper his offense thus far.
