Lance Lynn was knocked around for six earned runs in 3 2/3 innings and was charged with a loss to the Yankees on Wednesday.

Most of the damage came in the third inning when he gave up a solo dinger to Didi Gregorius and a three-run jack to Tyler Austin. Lynn is not making any new friends in Minnesota as he falls to 0-2 with a woeful 7.71 ERA after four starts. He has a bad habit of filling the bases via the walk and then giving up longballs. the veteran has 22 strikeouts, 18 walks and six homers allowed in 18 2/3 innings.

Elias Diaz went 3-for-4 on Wednesday in a win over the Tigers in game two of a doubleheader.

With the three hits, Diaz now has a .444 average to begin the year, and his .687 slugging percentage helps illustrate that the backstop is making lots of hard contact right now. He's not going to challenge Francisco Cervelli for the starting job, but if you're looking for a cheap backstop in DFS when he's in the lineup, he might be worth some consideration.

Felipe Vazquez pitched a scoreless ninth in the Pirates' victory over the Tigers in game two of a doubleheader on Wednesday.

Rivero came in with an 8-3 lead, so he didn't earn the save. He allowed one hit, but no runs scored and he struck out one. Rivero's ERA still hasn't recovered from his disastrous opening, but it's "down" to 4.82, and he's allowed just one earned run in his last nine appearances.

Brock Holt continued his hot hitting by going 3-for-4 with a run and RBI in a win over the Blue Jays on Wednesday.

That makes six hits in two days for Holt, who is filling in at shortstop for the injured Xander Bogaerts. He delivered an RBI-double that plated Jackie Bradley in the fifth inning. Holt will probably return to the bench in a couple days despite his hot bat when Bogaerts comes off the disabled list. He has a .327 batting average with one homer and seven RBI in 54 plate appearances.

Leonys Martin cranked a homer in an 8-3 loss to the Pirates on Wednesday in the second game of a doubleheader.

The homer gives Martin four on the season, and it came with a runner on in the fifth inning. The former Ranger and Mariner has gotten off to a solid start in his first year with Detroit, and now is slugging .494 to begin the year. We've seen Martin get off to strong starts before only to fade as the year progresses, but so far, so good for the outfielder.

Jose Osuna went 2-for-4 with a homer in a victory over the Tigers on Wednesday.

Osuna was the 26th man for the doubleheader against Detroit, and he made his mark with a three-run shot off of Matt Boyd in the bottom of the second inning. He'll now head back to Triple-A Indianapolis, where he was hitting .333/.404/.533 in the International League.

Eduardo Rodriguez turned in a quality start and earned a win over the Blue Jays on Wednesday.

He gave up three runs on six hits in 6 2/3 innings and was relieved after tossing 106 pitches in the ballgame. He notched three strikeouts and issued one base-on-balls. The 25-year-old left-hander has done a good job of keeping his team in games long enough to allow their top-flight offense to make it pay. He moves to 3-0 with a 3.63 ERA in four starts. He has a 23:8 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 22 1/3 innings.
Apr 25 - 11:54 PM

Matt Boyd didn't make it out of the fourth inning while allowing four runs on Wednesday in a loss to the Pirates.

Boyd allowed 10 base runners in his 3 2/3 innings; seven of them hits and three of them walks. The big damage was a three-run homer from Jose Osuna in the bottom of the second, but Boyd clearly didn't have his best stuff or command on Wednesday. The left-hander had given up just one run in each of his previous three starts, and he'll look to rebound in his next outing against the Rays on Tuesday.
