Andrew Heaney pitched seven innings of one-run ball, allowing only two hits to earn a win over the Yankees on Tuesday.

Heaney has looked sharp in two major league starts thus far. The Yankees' only run came courtesy Mark Teixeira's home run in the second inning. Along with allowing only two hits, Heaney walked two and struck out seven. Though he has been traded twice already, the lefty is a well-regarded prospect, so it wouldn't be surprising if he kept it up for a while. Mixed leaguers should feel comfortable adding him. Heaney's next start, however, will come at Coors Field against the Rockies.

Brad Miller launched a two-run home run in a 2-for-4 effort as the Mariners shut the Padres out 5-0 on Tuesday.

Miller took Ian Kennedy out to right-center in the fourth inning for a two-run homer, making it a 4-0 Mariners lead at the time. It's his seventh homer of the season. He looks certain to surpass his career high of 10 set last season. He's also knocked in 22 runs while batting a passable .237/.316/.404.

Yangervis Solarte gave the Padres reason to smile in Tuesday's loss to the Mariners, as his seventh-inning double prevented a no-hitter.

Mariners starter Mike Montgomery hadn't allowed a hit with one out in the seventh inning when Solarte stepped to the plate. He saved his team from ignominy with a double, but he was ultimately stranded. Solarte had consecutive multi-hit games coming into Tuesday, but otherwise hasn't done much at the plate in 2015, batting .247/.299/.344 with two home runs and 28 RBI.

Ian Kennedy gave up four runs over five innings to take the loss on Tuesday against the Mariners.

Mike Zunino ripped a solo home run in the third inning to open the scoring. An Austin Jackson RBI single and a two-run Brad Miller home run created a three-run fourth to account for the rest of the offense. Kennedy allowed five hits and a walk overall while striking out five. The right-hander has looked competent at times this season, but hasn't been able to gather any momentum. He has a 5.23 ERA with a 1.34 WHIP and a 70/23 K/BB ratio in 74 innings. Kennedy will try to change his luck with a road start against the Cardinals in his next trip out to the mound.

Eduardo Nunez finished 3-for-4 with an RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base as the Twins trumped the Reds 8-5 on Tuesday.

Nunez and the Twins racked up 15 hits against Anthony DeSclafani and the Reds bullpen. The shortstop had three of them, collecting two singles and a double. He also stole his third base of the season. Nunez' usage has been inexplicable at times -- the light-hitting shortstop has served as the team's designated hitter in 11 games this year -- but he's put up decent numbers through 33 games, hitting .305/.350/.516 with 11 RBI and 13 runs scored. Perhaps he'll begin garnering more of the playing time at short with his hot hitting.

Mike Montgomery flashed terrific stuff in a shutout of the Padres on Tuesday, losing a bid for a no-hitter in the seventh inning.

Montgomery has been on fire since debuting in the majors for the first time at the beginning of June. On Tuesday, he brought a no-hitter into the seventh inning, but lost it with one out when Yangervis Solarte doubled. It was the only hit he allowed in nine innings along with four walks and seven strikeouts. Montgomery now has tossed back-to-back shutouts. The left-hander, through six starts, owns a stellar 1.62 ERA, 0.90 WHIP, and a 29/12 K/BB ratio in 44 1/3 innings. He'll start in Oakland against the Athletics next.
Jul 1 - 12:35 AM

Eugenio Suarez hit his second home run of the season in Tuesday's loss to the Twins.

Suarez hit a solo shot off Phil Hughes in the third inning to get the Reds on the board. The homer was his second in 17 games this season. Suarez took over for Zack Cozart at shortstop and has held his own, hitting .328/.369/.475. Despite that, his offensive upside is limited and he can be ignored in most fantasy formats.
Jul 1 - 12:34 AM

Joe Mauer went 2-for-3 with two RBI in Tuesday's win over the Reds.

Mauer scored a run with a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning before adding an RBI single in the eighth. It was Mauer's first multi-RBI game since June 5, as he totaled nine RBI for the month of June. The multi-hit game was just his fifth this month. With Tuesday's game, Mauer is now hitting .263/.334/.370 with 39 RBI on the year.
