Yankees recalled 1B Tyler Austin from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Austin fractured his left foot in February and then promptly strained his hamstring when the Yankees promoted in late June, but the 25-year-old first baseman had been hitting the ball well at Triple-A over the last couple of weeks and has earned another callup before the expansion of MLB rosters in September. That said, it's not clear how much he's going to play in New York.

Jose Ramirez was removed from Thursday's game against the Twins after taking a pitch off his right forearm.

Twins starter Kyle Gibson plunked Ramirez with a 93.1 mph fastball in the top of the second inning. Giovanny Urshela entered to run the bases and handle the hot corner for the Tribe. There should be an injury update soon from Minnesota's Target Field.

Orioles sent INF Ruben Tejada outright to Triple-A Norfolk.

The move opens a roster spot for utility infielder Ryan Flaherty, who was activated from the 60-day disabled list in a corresponding move. Tejada batted .230/.293/.283 in 41 games with Baltimore.

Orioles activated INF Ryan Flaherty from the 60-day disabled list.

Flaherty will rejoin the O's ahead of Friday night's series opener against the Angels after missing the last three months with a shoulder injury. The 31-year-old utility infielder hit the ball pretty well on his 16-game minor league rehab assignment, but he holds a weak .216/.285/.356 career batting line in the majors and will not be fantasy-relevant down the stretch.

Ryan Hanigan was scratched from the Rockies' lineup Thursday due to a stomach virus.

Jonathan Lucroy will now start at catcher and bat fifth versus Braves right-hander Lucas Sims. Hanigan is day-to-day.

Red Sox activated LHP Roenis Elias from the 60-day disabled list; optioned him to Triple-A Pawtucket.

Elias is recovered from his intercostal and lat injuries and has already made some starts at Triple-A. The 29-year-old left-hander has not made an appearance at the major league level in 2017, but he could join the Red Sox in a long relief role when rosters expand in September.
Aug 17 - 1:38 PM

Red Sox designated RHP Noe Ramirez for assignment.

The move clears a 40-man roster spot for Roenis Elias, who has been activated off the 60-day disabled list and optioned to Triple-A Pawtucket. Ramirez was sporting a decent 3.51 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, and 57/16 K/BB ratio in 48 2/3 innings of relief this season with Pawtucket and could draw some interest on waivers.
Aug 17 - 1:35 PM

Ryan Goins (forearm) is in the Blue Jays' starting lineup on Thursday against the Rays.

Goins was removed from Wednesday night's game after Rays infielder Daniel Robertson stepped on his left arm in the sixth inning, but he avoided a serious injury. Goins is starting at shortstop and batting eighth Thursday versus Tampa Bay right-hander Chris Archer.
