Trea Turner went 3-for-4 with a pair of solo homers Monday against the Mets.

Turner has shown really impressive power as a major leaguer, and the Nationals have a nice alternative in the leadoff spot in Adam Eaton. Still, Dusty Baker has been locked into Turner as a leadoff man since the beginning of the spring. Turner is batting .279 with three homers and six steals this spring.

Bryce Harper hit a pair of homers Monday off the Mets' Seth Lugo.

That's eight homers in 52 at-bats for Harper. He had totaled 10 in 245 career spring at-bats going into this year. Harper was hitting third today, and it looks like manager Dusty Baker is considering putting him there at the start of the year. He'll hit behind Daniel Murphy either way; it just remains to be seen whether they're two-three or three-four.

Tony Sipp (back) will return to Grapefruit League action on Monday.

Sipp was scratched from a scheduled appearance Saturday due to back stiffness, but he's expected to be fine. He'll help set up again for the Astros this season.

Tim Tebow - OF - Mets

Tim Tebow went 0-for-4 and struck out three times Monday against the Nationals.

At least those strikeouts came against Max Scherzer and Koda Glover. He grounded out against Enny Romero in his third at-bat. Tebow, who has four singles in 24 at-bats this spring, is set to open the season in low-A ball.

Blue Jays manager John Gibbons indicated Monday that Devon Travis (knee) is likely to be ready to play on Opening Day.

"It’s starting to look that way, but nothing definite yet," Gibbons said. Travis didn't make his Grapefruit League debut until last Friday, as he was slow to recover from last November's knee surgery. He figures to receive some extra days off early on in the season, but it sounds like the second baseman will be out their on April 3 in Baltimore.

Kennys Vargas (foot) took batting practice Monday.

Vargas has been out of game action after fouling a ball off his left foot last Friday, but he did some running Sunday and has now resumed hitting. It's possible Vargas will be ready in time for Opening Day, but he seems to have fallen behind ByungHo Park in the battle for designated hitter at-bats.

Jhonny Peralta (knee) is expected back in the lineup Tuesday.

Peralta exited Saturday's game after fouling a ball off his left knee. He's been sore, but X-rays were negative and he'll be fine.
Mar 27 - 4:16 PM

Lance Lynn (rib) will start in a minor league game on Thursday.

Lynn was pulled from a Grapefruit League outing Saturday with a rib injury, although the Cardinals said his removal was precautionary. At this point, there's been nothing to suggest the ailment could keep him from making his first start once the regular season begins.
