Browns activated C Nick McDonald (wrist) off the non-football injury list.
TE Gerell Robinson was waived in a corresponding move. With Alex Mack done for the season, McDonald will likely start at center for the Browns on Sunday against the Raiders. McDonald has not played in a regular-season game since 2012.
Buccaners signed DT Gerald McCoy to a seven-year, $98-million contract extension.
The deal reportedly includes $51.5 million guaranteed. McCoy struggled with injuries his first two seasons, but bounced back to become one of the most dominant defensive forces in the league over the last two year. Only 26, McCoy was a first-team All-Pro last season, and already has two Pro-Bowl selections under his belt. McCoy has two sacks and nine hurries on 274 defensive snaps this season.
Carson Palmer said coach Bruce Arians' offense is designed to spread the ball around.
"I've been in offenses where the majority of the plays are designed to go to one guy," Palmer said. "This system is not designed to go to the 'X' or the 'Z' or the 'Y.' It depends on the coverage." Palmer hit nine different pass catchers against Oakland last week, and connected with 11 and eight different receivers in his first two starts of the season. The emphasis on spreading the ball around has led to disappointing seasons for Larry Fitzgerald and Michael Floyd, who are both on pace to fall below their statistical output from last season. Unless something changes, Arizona's offensive philosophy makes Floyd nothing more than an upside WR2, while Fitzgerald is a WR3 moving forward.
Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said rookie RE DeMarcus Lawrence (foot, I.R./recall) should be activated for the team's Week 9 tilt with Arizona.
Lawrence began practicing last week, and has reportedly "looked really good" in workouts. He will be asked to bolster a pass-rushing unit that has only notched seven sacks this season.
The NFL Network's Albert Breer reports A.J. Green (toe) is unlikely to play against the Ravens Week 8.
Green did not practice all week and is listed as doubtful. Breer reports Green is dealing with "lingering" ligament damage under his big toe, and he expects the Bengals to be careful with the injury. Green should be viewed as questionable for Week 9.
Jaguars waived WR Tavarres King.
A 2013 fifth-round pick, King has now been released by three teams in two seasons. King's combination of size and speed will likely land him on someone's practice squad. The Jaguars signed CB Peyton Thompson in a corresponding move. Thompson will serve as insurance in case Dwayne Gratz (hip) cannot play.
Titans RB Shonn Greene was arrested for fleeing the scene of a parking incident on Friday night.
Greene was parked in a handicap parking space in Franklin, Tennessee on Friday evening. When a parking enforcement officer tried to issue Greene a ticket, he got into his car, maneuvered around the officer's vehicle and left the scene. Greene was charged with a handicap parking violation, driving on a revoked/suspended license, reckless driving and resisting stop/halt/frisk. Green turned himself in Friday night after learning there was a warrant out for his arrest, and was released after posting a $2,000 bond. His status for Sunday's game against the Texans is unknown.
Raiders activated CB D.J. Haden (foot) off the PUP list.
He is eligible to play against the Browns Week 8. Hayden missed all of training camp with a stress fracture in his foot. Coming off an injury-marred rookie campaign, the 2013 first-round pick needs to prove he can stay healthy down the stretch this season.
