Kenley Jansen - R - Dodgers

Kenley Jansen took the loss after allowing two runs in the eighth inning Saturday against the Braves.

Chris Capuano was spinning a gem, but he got pulled after allowing a one-out single in the bottom of the eighth and Jansen promptly surrendered a go-ahead two-run shot to Evan Gattis. Jansen then yielded a solo shot to Braves shortstop Andrelton Simmons. Brandon League is the primary closer in Los Angeles until further notice.

Brandon McCarthy - S - Diamondbacks

Brandon McCarthy threw a three-hit shutout as the Diamondbacks beat the Marlins 1-0 on Saturday.

Everybody looks a little better facing the Marlins, but it's the second-straight outing that McCarthy has held the opponent scoreless and he's now turned in three consecutive quality starts. After his early struggles, McCarthy seems to have turned a corner. We look for him to be more consistent going forward. His next turn will come against the Padres on Friday.

Steve Cishek - R - Marlins

Steve Cishek worked a perfect ninth inning in a non-save situation against the Diamondbacks on Saturday.

Cishek took the loss against the Reds his last time out, so it was good to see him back and pitching well. The Marlins don't have any better options and Cishek is actually pretty good for the most part, so there's little doubt he will continue to be the closer going forward.

Gerardo Parra - OF - Diamondbacks

Gerardo Parra hit a leadoff (but game-winning) home run against the Marlins on Saturday night.

Parra took Tom Koehler deep in the first at-bat of the game, and it turned out to be all the scoring either team would do. The homer was Parra's only hit of the night, and he's now batting .327/.394/.506 on the year. The outfielder has often been the odd-man out in the Diamondbacks outfield -- Arizona expected Jason Kubel and Adam Eaton to be starting at this point -- but it's hard to see how the club will bench him when he's performing like this.

Tom Koehler - R - Marlins

Tom Koehler allowed one run over six innings, but the Marlins lost to the Diamondbacks on Saturday.

The loss is hard to pin on Koehler, who allowed only a solo home run to Gerardo Parra leading off the game. Over the rest of the night, Koehler surrendered just two hits and two walks while striking out seven. The right-hander hasn't been bad this year, and he should garner another start despite behind landed the loss. He's in line to take the mound again on Friday against the White Sox.

Mike Moustakas - 3B - Royals

Royals manager Ned Yost said Saturday that he's not going to stop giving Mike Moustakas playing time despite his early-season struggles.

"The kid is going to be fine," Yost said. "Yes, he’s fighting it right now. They’re all fighting it." It's encouraging to hear from the manager, considering Moustakas was hitting .189/.261/.331 heading into Saturday's action. There were high hopes for the 24-year old third baseman heading into the 2013 season, and there's still plenty of time for him to turn it around and make a positive impact this year.

Ryan Flaherty - 2B - Orioles

Orioles optioned INF Ryan Flaherty to Triple-A Norfolk.

A corresponding move will come on Sunday. Flaherty was hitting .133/.228/.233 in 90 at-bats this year.

Jose Molina - C - Rays

Jose Molina said he was "OK" after Saturday's game after exiting due to left hamstring tightness.

It sounds like Molina could be in the lineup Sunday. Either way, he's just day-to-day and nothing more at this point.
