Carlos Sanchez has made the White Sox' Opening Day roster.

Sanchez is viewed as the runner-up for the second base job, but a .436 batting average in Cactus League play didn't hurt his cause. White Sox manager Robin Ventura is expected to name an Opening Day starter at the keystone on Sunday. Micah Johnson is still the odds-on favorite for the job.

Corey Dickerson was scratched from Wednesday's lineup due to lower back tightness.

It was the second straight day Dickerson was out of the lineup because of the back. While Dickerson has downplayed the injury, it's not exactly reassuring that he's missing games this close to the start of the season. If he's not concerned then we won't be, either, but monitor his situation as Opening Day approaches.

Mario Hollands (elbow) will undergo another ultrasound on his common flexor tendon this week.

Hollands was hoping to have more clarity on his injured elbow after a meeting with Dr. James Andrews, but Andrews had trouble getting a clear reading on Hollands' MRI Monday. The Phillies' team physician has already recommended season-ending surgery to repair the strain in his elbow. Either way, Hollands won't be back with the Phillies any time soon.
Apr 1 - 7:40 PM

Anthony Rizzo went 1-for-3 with a walk and an opposite field three-run home run as the Cubs defeated the Brewers 11-7 on Wednesday.

Rizzo's third-inning three-run home run off of Kyle Lohse pushed the Cubs' lead to 5-0 at the time. It was a rare offensive success for Rizzo, as it was only his second blast of the spring and he carries a meager .185 average (10-for-54) nearing the end of spring training. A frequent first-round pick in fantasy leagues, Rizzo is looking to match or exceed last year's .286 average, 32 home runs, and 78 RBI.
Apr 1 - 7:37 PM

Dexter Fowler went 3-for-3 with a walk, a triple, a two-run home run, and four runs scored on Wednesday against the Brewers.

Fowler showed what kind of damage he is capable of at the top of the Cubs' lineup. His fourth-inning two-run home run off of Kyle Lohse extended the Cubs' lead to 7-0. With spring training drawing to a close, Fowler is batting .319 (15-for-47) with two doubles, two triples, and two home runs.
Apr 1 - 7:34 PM

Kyle Lohse was hit around in his final start of the spring on Wednesday, surrendering seven runs over four innings to the Cubs.

Lohse served up three home runs, allowing eight hits and four walks in total while striking out three. It's not exactly the end to the spring he was hoping for, but he'll have to put it behind him as he prepares to oppose Rockies right-hander Kyle Kendrick on Opening Day on Monday.
Apr 1 - 7:31 PM

Avisail Garcia went 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBI in Wednesday's Cactus League win over the Mariners.

Garcia opened the scoring for the White Sox, singling in a run in the first inning. He plated another with an RBI single in the second, but the big hit was a two-run homer in the fourth. The 23-year-old is hitting .328 with eight RBI this spring, and after injury marred his 2014 season a healthy Garcia should deliver on his big promise this year.
Apr 1 - 7:30 PM

Jason Hammel was effective over five innings against the Brewers on Wednesday, allowing just one run in his final Cactus League start.

Hammel gave up six hits, walked none, and struck out five. He ends spring training with a 3.24 ERA and a terrific 22/3 K/BB ratio in 25 innings. Last season with the Cubs, he posted a 2.98 ERA with a 104/23 K/BB ratio in 108 2/3 innings before a trade to the Athletics. A return to the Windy City, in the DH-less National League, bodes well for his fantasy value.
