Adam Frazier hit a three-run homer off the Braves' Bartolo Colon on Thursday.

It was Frazier's only time on base today after he reached six times (with one homer) last night. He has three homers to go along with his .361 average in 97 at-bats.

Asdrubal Cabrera (thumb) could be activated ahead of Thursday night's game against the Padres.

Cabrera showed up at Citi Field on Thursday afternoon after going 2-for-5 on his two-game minor league rehab assignment with High-A Binghamton. The shortstop has been on the disabled list since May 13 because of lingering soreness in his left thumb. There should be something more official soon.
May 25 - 3:25 PM

Rio Ruiz went 3-for-4 with an RBI in the loss to the Pirates on Thursday.

Ruiz is 5-for-9 the last two days, giving him a .320 average in eight games since he was called up when Freddie Freeman went on the DL last week. He should be a better player than Adonis Garcia going forward if the Braves want to give him the chance to keep starting at third base. Garcia, though, seems to be just a few days away, and it remains likely that Ruiz will be sent down when he returns.

Shin-Soo Choo is out of the Rangers' starting lineup Thursday versus the Red Sox.

Rougned Odor will take a turn at DH with the Red Sox starting left-hander Drew Pomeranz. Pete Kozma is at second base. Choo has a .695 career OPS versus lefties and an .893 career OPS against right-handers.

Reds designated 1B/OF Peter O'Brien for assignment.

Cincinnati just claimed O'Brien off waivers nine days ago from the Royals. The 26-year-old has batted .168/.252/.304 with four home runs and 37 strikeouts in 32 games this season between Triple-A Omaha and Triple-A Louisville.
May 25 - 1:58 PM

Reds placed LHP Amir Garrett on the 10-day disabled list with right hip inflammation.

Garrett had surrendered 13 earned runs in nine innings (two starts) since returning from Triple-A Louisville last week. It's been a very up-and-down start to the season for the talented young left-hander. There is no current timetable for his return, though this doesn't sound like a serious injury.
May 25 - 1:56 PM

Reds claimed RHP Jake Buchanan off waivers from the Cubs.

Chicago designated Buchanan for assignment earlier this week after he put up a 4.75 ERA, 1.63 WHIP, and 29/19 K/BB ratio through 41 2/3 innings with Triple-A Iowa. He could actually get some starts in Cincinnati, but that speaks more to the sad state of the Reds' pitching staff than anything. Buchanan definitely shouldn't be trusted in standard fantasy leagues.
May 25 - 1:52 PM

Twins prospect Mitchell Garver went 3-for-4 with a homer on Wednesday for Triple-A Rochester.

The homer was Garver's third for the Red Wings this season. A ninth-round selection in 2013, Garver has been impressive this season, particularly with his approach as seen in his .400 on-base percentage. He's also no slouch with the glove, and he just might be the Twins catcher of the future. The upside isn't great, but in two catcher leagues, he might be serviceable.
