Jose Urena, making his second career start in the majors, notched a quality start but lost after giving up three runs in six innings to the Cubs on Monday.

Urena was immediately in trouble in the first inning, allowing the first three batters he faced to reach base, but he was able to rebound and limit the Cubs to only two runs. He allowed only four hits on the night while walking three and striking out four. Urena can be ignored for fantasy purposes for now. He'll make his next start at Coors Field against the Rockies.

Jason Hammel struck out 11 batters and allowed only one run in 6 2/3 innings of work en route to a win against the Marlins on Monday.

11 punch-outs marks a career-high for Hammel. He had previously struck out 10 batters on three occasions, last occuring in June 2012. The Marlins' only run came home in the third inning when Giancarlo Stanton stole third base and scored on catcher Miguel Montero's throwing error. Hammel surrendered only five hits in total while walking none. He boasts a sterling 2.82 ERA with a 0.90 WHIP and a 69/7 K/BB ratio over 67 innings this season. He'll look to keep it going in a weekend road start versus the Nationals.

Rockies outfield prospect David Dahl underwent a splenectomy on Monday.

Had Dahl waited for his lacerated spleen to heal he likely would be missed the remainder of the season. Having it removed means he'll make it back this year, although it's unclear when that is likely to happen. Ranked before the season by Baseball America as the No. 22 prospect in the game, Dahl has batted .269/.296/.379 with three homers and 14 steals at Double-A New Britain this season.

Dilson Herrera (finger) has begun swinging a bat lightly.

He's also begun throwing. Herrera was unable to grip a bat or baseball just a week ago, so he appears to have made big strides with his fractured right middle finger since then. There remains no timetable for his return.

Astros shortstop prospect Carlos Correa was held out of Triple-A Fresno's lineup Monday due to a sore right heel.

Correa injured the heel on a slide home Sunday. His absence from the lineup is viewed as precautionary, so consider the top prospect day-to-day. Correa is hitting .327/.398/.607 with 10 homers, 41 RBI and 18 steals between Double- and Triple-A this season and is expected to make his major league debut before long.

Diamondbacks activated RHP Matt Stites from the 15-day disabled list; optioned him to Triple-A Reno.

Stites has allowed three runs -- two earned -- over 1 1/3 rehab innings while working his way back from a strained right flexor tendon. He should join the Diamondbacks' bullpen at some point as long as he's healthy.

Desmond Jennings (knee) had a few at-bats in an extended spring training game Monday.

It's his first game action since he landed on the disabled list in late April with left knee bursitis. The bad news is that Rays manager Kevin Cash said Jennings "still felt something" in his knee during the game. It's unclear whether he'll continue to keep playing in extended spring or if the Rays will pump the breaks a bit. Jennings has been out since late April.

Matt Moore (elbow) will begin a rehab assignment with High-A Charlotte on Wednesday.

Moore was cleared for official game work after getting through a 46-pitch extended spring appearance last Thursday. He's slated to make 5-6 rehab starts, putting him on track to return possibly before the end of the month. The left-hander is worth stashing away now if you have space on your roster.
