Giancarlo Stanton hit his 16th home run in Tuesday's win over the Cubs.

It was the usual routine for Stanton, who struck out twice and walked once in his other three plate appearances. Stanton has a league-leading 45 RBI with his 16 home runs, but he's hitting just .230/.322/.520 overall. His 72 strikeouts are also most in the league.

Kyle Hendricks allowed four runs over six innings of work in Tuesday's loss to the Marlins.

Hendricks had navigated the Marlins lineup safely for much of the evening, including racking up seven strikeouts, before loading the bases in the fifth. A subsequent Marcell Ozuna double cleared them and saddled Hendricks with his second loss of the year. The right-hander is now 1-2 with a 3.99 ERA and 1.18 WHIP through 10 starts this year. He'll try to draw his record even when the Cubs visit the Nationals on Sunday.

Brad Hand held the Cubs to two runs over six innings Tuesday to earn his first win of the season.

Hand allowed six hits and two walks over his six innings. The southpaw struck out two. He was pressed into starting duty recently after the Marlins lost both Henderson Alvarez and Mat Latos to injury, and Hand has been good through two starts, allowing two runs over 11 innings of work. He lowered his ERA to 4.24 with the win. Hand will have a tough interleague test Monday when the Marlins travel to take on the Blue Jays.

Koji Uehara kept the Twins off the board in the ninth inning, helping the Red Sox eke out a 1-0 win on Tuesday.

Uehara allowed a two-out walk to Trevor Plouffe, but was able to get Kurt Suzuki to fly out to end the game. The 40-year-old has been terrific for the Red Sox this year, going 11-for-13 in save opportunities with a 1.59 ERA and a 19/6 K/BB ratio in 17 innings.
Jun 2 - 9:41 PM

Mike Pelfrey was handed an unfortunate loss, yielding only one run to the Red Sox over seven innings on Tuesday.

Pelfrey and opposing starter Clay Buchholz were trading zeroes for much of the inning. The Red Sox rallied for a lone run in Pelfrey's final inning thanks to a Xander Bogaerts double and a Rusney Castillo single. They were two of only six hits allowed along with a pair of walks and one strikeout. Pelfrey has been a surprise contributor to the upstart Twins, carrying a 2.59 ERA with a 1.24 WHIP and a 27/18 K/BB ratio over 59 innings. He'll face the Brewers at home in his next trip to the mound.
Jun 2 - 9:38 PM

Xander Bogaerts went 2-for-3 with a double, a stolen base, and scored the game's only run in Tuesday's win against the Twins.

Bogaerts doubled with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning and came around to score on a Rusney Castillo single. It was the only run either side would score on the evening. Bogaerts is now carrying a league-average-ish .281/.328/.389 triple-slash line with two home runs, 17 RBI, 20 runs scored, and three stolen bases.
Jun 2 - 9:36 PM

Clay Buchholz pitched brilliantly on Tuesday, racking up eight scoreless innings in a win over the Twins.

Buchholz scattered three hits (all singles) and a pair of walks while striking out eight. It's the latest in what has been an elite stretch of pitching. In his last five starts, Buchholz has a 1.95 ERA and a 30/8 K/BB ratio in 37 innings. Overall, he's lowered his ERA to 3.82 with a 1.21 WHIP and a 70/18 K/BB ratio over 68 1/3 innings. He matches up with the Athletics at home in his next outing.

X-rays on Robinson Chirinos's right hand came back negative.

Chirinos was hit on the hand by a pitch Tuesday but didn't suffer any breaks. He's day-to-day.
