Eric Young Jr. has a locker and uniform in the Angels' clubhouse Monday.

Nothing official has been announced, but it probably doesn't bode well for Mike Trout (thumb). Young is batting .354/.419/.528 with five homers and 15 steals at Triple-A Salt Lake. If Trout goes on the disabled list, Ben Revere should be the biggest beneficiary of increased playing time.

Dustin Pedroia is headed back to Boston to undergo an MRI on his injured left wrist.

Pedroia sprained his wrist on a collision at first base Monday and it was still swollen and tender after the game. The Red Sox are holding off on making a roster move for now until they get MRI results back, but a stint on the disabled list looks like a distinct possibility.

Rangers manager Jeff Banister said that "all indications are" that Adrian Beltre (calf) will be in the lineup Monday.

It sounds like the Rangers probably want Beltre to get through a pre-game workout with no issues before they officially activate him from the disabled list. It will be the season debut for the veteran third baseman, as Beltre has been out for nearly two months with a strained right calf.

Gregory Polanco was carted off the field with an apparent right ankle injury in Monday's game versus the Diamondbacks.

Polanco banged up against the side wall in right field. Obviously, the fact that he required a cart to exit the field is not a promising sign. The Pirates should have more on the outfielder's status after the game, but expect a disabled list stint.

Rich Hill held the Cardinals to one run over five innings of work in Monday's 5-1 victory.

It was certainly a major improvement over his outing against the Cards last week when he walked seven batters. Hill permitted only two hits, walked two and recorded four strikeouts on the day. The left-hander needed 86 pitches to get through his five innings, and with his blister issues it was probably best not to push him to complete a sixth. Hill will face the Brewers at Miller Park this weekend.

Mike Leake gave up four runs over seven innings in Monday's loss to the Dodgers.

Leake's run of nine straight quality starts to begin the season comes to an end. He allowed three runs over his first six frames in this one, but he was sent back out for the seventh with his pitch count low and gave up a sac fly. The sinkerballer gave up just six hits and a walk while striking out six but served up a couple longballs. Leake gets the Cubs at Wrigley this weekend.

Logan Forsythe swatted his first home run as a Dodgers on Monday against the Cardinals.

Forsythe took Kevin Siegrist deep to lead off the eighth inning, extending the Dodgers' lead. While he's hitting just .238 through his first 20 games with Los Angeles and this was his first homer, Forsythe has been getting on base as expected with a .355 OBP.

Cody Bellinger homered for the second game in a row in Monday's win over the Cardinals.

Bellinger was given the green light on a 3-0 offering from Mike Leake in the fourth inning and he blasted it well into the right field seats for a solo shot. The rookie has predictably tailed off a bit in the average department of late, but he's gone deep four times over his last 10 contests.
