Andrew Baggarly of the San Jose Mercury News reports that the Giants plan on placing Matt Cain on the disabled list with a right hamstring strain.

Cain suffered the injury during the second inning of Friday's start against the Rockies in Colorado. Cain underwent an MRI on Friday, and the club is waiting on results to officially announce a move. Baggarly also notes that former first round pick Chris Stratton is expected to be recalled to take Cain's place on the active roster.

Stephen Vogt is not in the Athletics starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Tigers.

Being an afternoon game after a night game, Vogt will take a seat in favor of Josh Phegley who was activated from the disabled list on Friday. Look for Vogt to be back behind the dish for Sunday's series finale.

DJ LeMahieu is not in the Rockies starting lineup for Saturday afternoon's tilt against the Giants.

Getting a day off against Madison Bumgarner isn't the worst possible thing in the world for LeMahieu and his fantasy owners alike. Christian Adames will start in his place and bat seventh for the Rockies on Saturday.
May 28 - 1:12 PM

Gerardo Parra is not in the Rockies starting lineup on Saturday.

It's a good time to get Parra a day off against opposing southpaw Madison Bumgarner. Ryan Raburn will start in his place and bat sixth for the Rockies on Saturday.

Ryan Braun is not in the Brewers starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Reds.

Braun has battled a variety of ailments already this season, so giving him a breather to keep him fresh isn't a terrible idea, especially after he looked especially spry on Friday night with a pair of stolen bases. Unfortunately for fantasy owners, he misses a juicy matchup against Alfredo Simon.

Cardinals designated INF Ruben Tejada for assignment.

Greg Garcia flashed enough in his brief callup that that Cardinals felt it would be more prudent to keep him on the roster as a reserve infielder instead of Tejada who was hitting just .176/.225/.235 in his 34 at-bats. He should be able to latch on elsewhere with little difficulty.
May 28 - 1:06 PM

Cardinals activated 3B Matt Carpenter from the paternity leave list.

Carpenter left the club on Wednesday when his wife went into labor with the couple's first child. He'll return to the Cardinals starting lineup on Saturday.
May 28 - 1:03 PM

Brett Gardner is not in the Yankees starting lineup for Saturday's contest against the Rays.

Given that the club is squaring off against tough southpaw Matt Moore, manager Joe Girardi figured it would be a good day to give Gardner a breather and keep him fresh. Aaron Hicks is starting in his place and batting second for the Bombers on Saturday.
