Jayson Werth is still having trouble rotating his ailing left wrist.

Therefore, he has obviously yet to be cleared to resume swinging a bat and it's unclear when that might happen. "They’re treating him aggressively like they have been," Nationals manager Matt Williams said. "He’s got fairly good grip strength, but the rotation of it and turning that over is not good." X-rays and an MRI on Werth's wrist came back clean, but he has a history of injuries with the wrist so the Nats will be cautious. It doesn't sound like he'll be returning anytime soon.

Rusney Castillo is not in the Red Sox' lineup Wednesday.

Off to a 3-for-15 start at the plate, Castillo now been benched two out of the last three games. Brock Holt is in right field.

Francisco Cervelli is not in the Pirates' lineup Wednesday.

He's just resting with it being a day game after a night game. Chris Stewart is behind the dish in Cervelli's place.

Danny Duffy (biceps) will throw a bullpen session on Friday.

Duffy played catch on Tuesday and evidently felt well enough to resume mound work in a few days. Even though he appears to have made a rapid recovery, he still seems likely to need a rehab assignment before returning, especially with Jason Vargas having returned and Chris Young pitching well.

Jordan Lyles (toe) has been cleared to start on Sunday versus the Phillies.

Lyles had a start pushed back due a sprain in his left big toe, but he's already feeling much better. The right-hander sports an ugly 5.10 ERA, 1.49 WHIP and 28/19 K/BB ratio over 47 2/3 innings this season for the Rockies.
May 27 - 10:30 AM

Tigers recalled LHP Kyle Ryan from Triple-A Toledo.

Ryan will make a spot start on Wednesday against the A's with Alfredo Simon going on the bereavement list. The left-hander holds an unappealing 4.67 ERA over nine starts at Toledo this season and can be avoided for fantasy purposes.
May 27 - 10:20 AM

Tigers placed RHP Alfredo Simon on the bereavement list.

Simon has returned to his native Dominican Republic to be with his father, who is ill. The Tigers aren't sure when Simon will be back, but he seems likely to be ready for his next start. Kyle Ryan will fill in Wednesday.
May 27 - 10:17 AM

Nick Hundley is not in the Rockies' lineup Wednesday.

It's simply a routine day off. Michael McKenry is at catcher in Hundley's place.
