Trevor Williams allowed one run on five hits over six innings while taking a no-decision in Wednesday's loss to the Giants.

Williams struck out two and walked three on the afternoon. The lone run to score on his watch came when Brandon Crawford hit into an RBI fielder's choice in the first inning. Up next on the docket for Williams, a home start against the Reds. He will carry a 4.53 ERA and 1.32 WHIP into that contest.

Josh Phegley was a late scratch from Wednesday's lineup against the Blue Jays due to left oblique tightness.

Consider Phegley day-to-day for the time being, though oblique injuries often come with long recovery layoffs. With him out of the lineup, Bruce Maxwell will work as backstop in Wednesday's game.

Nationals OF prospect Juan Soto has undergone surgery to remove the hamate bone in his right hand.

Soto has had rotten injury luck this season, as prior to this surgery on his hand, the 18-year-old outfielder previously had to rehab from a broken ankle suffered in May. Soto ranked as Baseball Prospectus' No. 57 overall prospect heading into the 2017 season. He is a prospect who has reportedly seen some interest from other clubs as a potential trade chip.

Josh Phegley was a late scratch from the lineup in advance of Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays.

Bruce Maxwell will serve as catcher in Phegley's stead. If there is an injury concern, here, the A's should pass along an update later on Wednesday.

Michael Blazek will start against the Nationals on Thursday.

Blazek will make the start in place of Matt Garza, who just landed on the disabled list with a right leg strain. The 28-year-old right-hander has made four appearances with the Brewers to date, but this will be his first start of the season. Given that he is not stretched out yet, the Brew Crew are probably hoping for about five innings max, here.

Leury Garcia (finger) will begin a minor league rehab assignment with the Arizona Rookie League White Sox on Wednesday.

Garcia has been working out at the White Sox spring training facilities in Arizona. He has been out of action with a sprained finger on his left hand since June 16. This could potentially just be a short rehab assignment to get him up to speed. Barring a setback, he figures to rejoin the White Sox some time in the next week or so.

White Sox placed OF Avisail Garcia on the 10-day disabled list with a ligament strain in his right thumb.

Garcia is expected to be out for at least the next two weeks. He is undergoing an MRI which should help to clarify his recovery timetable. Alen Hanson will likely see the majority of at-bats in right field while Garcia is rehabbing from the ligament strain.

Nationals activated OF Ryan Raburn from the bereavement list; placed him on the 10-day disabled list with a left trapezius strain.

Raburn was placed on the bereavement list on Sunday to allow him time to mourn the passing of his grandfather. It is unclear just when he suffered the trapezius strain which is now sending him to the disabled list. There is no current timetable for Raburn's return.
