Bears released TE Dante Rosario.

Sep 4 - 6:35 PM

The Bucs are expected to go with Kyle Brindza as their kicker to open the season.

Acquired from Detroit in the Tim Wright trade earlier this week, Brindza connected on field goals from 57 and 55 yards in the final preseason game. That performance prompted to the Bucs to cut ties with Connor Barth, and Tampa Bay could jettison Patrick Murray (knee) as well.

Steelers ILB Lawrence Timmons (turf toe) expects to play in Week 1.

Timmons has been sidelined since the Hall of Fame game with a toe injury. He said he could have played Thursday if it had been a regular-season game. Timmons will be moved around the formation this season as the Steelers experiment with 4-3 fronts in addition to their base 3-4 scheme.

Cardinals coach Bruce Arians said he is sticking with K Chandler Catanzaro.

"No, I’m not concerned about [Catanzaro] and extra points so don’t worry. Don’t even give that question," Arians said. The second-year kicker missed two extra points in the team's final exhibition game and has missed 3-of-8 field goal attempts this preseason. He converted 29-of-33 his rookie year, however, including a 14-for-14 start. He should bounce back in the regular season.

Bills waived S Jonathan Meeks.

The Bills reportedly attempted to trade one of their receivers to make room for Meeks. A 2013 fifth-round pick, Meeks spent all last year on I.R. with a neck injury. Meeks is a candidate for the practice squad.
Sep 4 - 6:04 PM

Vikings waived RB DuJuan Harris.

Harris, 27, beat out Joe Banyard, but was outlasted by Dominique Williams and Matt Asiata behind Adrian Peterson and Jerick McKinnon at Vikings camp.
Sep 4 - 6:00 PM

Falcons waived/released LB Terrell Manning, OL Jake Rodgers, OG Jared Smith, CB Kevin White, DE Cliff Matthews, and S Sean Baker.

There are no surprises among this list, which is the first wave of Atlanta's final cuts. The Falcons will likely release the rest of their cuts on Saturday.
Sep 4 - 5:44 PM

Matt Cassel said he doesn't expect to be released.

"There’s been no indication that way," Cassel said. "Whether or not they will is probably a question you’d have to ask them, but right now that’s what I’m planning on." Coach Rex Ryan said last month he expects to carry three quarterbacks, but Cassel's spot is in danger after getting outplayed by E.J. Manuel. Buffalo would save $4.75M from releasing Cassel.
