Kris Bryant recorded a double in Sunday's contest against the Padres.

He hit the double off of Padres starter Andrew Cashner in the fifth inning and went on to finish the game 1-for-3 with a strikeout. In addition to the extra-base knock, he also reached base on a HBP. Bryant wrapped up his first major league series 3-for-10. This is just the start of what should be a great career, though owners should hang in there when Bryant sees inevitable struggles.

Indians top prospect Francisco Lindor blasted his first homer Saturday for Triple-A Columbus.

It was a solo shot to left field. Lindor hasn't shown us much with the bat, hitting only .212 in his first 33 at-bats. Power is never going to be his strong suit but if Lindor can get that average up, he should get called up to the big leagues.

Joaquin Benoit locked down his first save of the season in Sunday's win over the Cubs.

Benoit struck out two in picking up the save, though the Cubs attempted to make it interesting in the weakest way possible. With two outs, Chris Denorfia hit an infield single. Dexter Fowler followed this up with a bunt single to bring the tying run the plate. Benoit slammed the door on the mini rally when he struck out Jorge Soler to end the game. The aged veteran has allowed just one run in his first eight innings on the mound and should put up solidly respectable save numbers as long as he stays healthy.

Mets prospect Matt Reynolds impressed with four hits Saturday for Triple-A Las Vegas.

He also bagged a pair of stolen bases. For Reynolds, the hits have come in bunches. He already has four multi-hit games but has also gone hitless three times. The 24-year-old batted .343 across two levels last season and is off to another good start.

Andrew Cashner moved to 1-2 in Sunday's win over the Cubs, pitching six innings without allowing an earned run.

The Cubs did manage two runs off Cashner in the first inning, but both were unearned. After the early trouble, Cashner settled down and kept the Cubs off the board the rest of the way. He struck out five and walked two while scattering five hits across his six innings. Cashner has a 2.65 ERA through three starts. His next outing will come against the rival Dodgers.

Jon Lester surrendered three runs on six hits in his 5 1/3 innings of work against the Padres on Sunday.

Lester's career as a Chicago Cub is off to a less than stellar start. His outing against the Padres was at least better by degrees than the six-run debacle he put up against the Reds in his last start. Versus the Padres, Lester gave up a two-run homer to Will Middlebrooks in the the third inning and after working into trouble in the sixth, he was pulled with two on and one out. Will Venable subsequently finished off Lester's line with an RBI hit. Lester struck out four and walked two in the contest while lowering his ERA to 6.89. That might look ghastly, but Lester owners should take solace in the fact that for the left-hander's career, April and May have been his worst months in terms of ERA. Historically, he gets better as the weather warms. Lester will face the Reds in his next start.

Twins prospect Adam Brett Walker left the yard twice Saturday for Double-A Chattanooga

Both homers came in the first game of a double-header. Walker's free swinging approach has been a double-edged sword. He's slugged four homers already but also has 15 strikeouts in only 33 at-bats. Walker should continue to be a boom or bust hitter as he makes his way up through the Twins' system.

Mets prospect Michael Conforto continued his power binge with another home run Saturday for High-A St. Lucie.

He has eight RBI in his last four games. St. Lucie has been batting him in the No. 3 spot and for good reason. He's hitting .333 with a slugging percentage that would rival Barry Bonds in his prime. New York drafted Conforto in the first round last year out of Oregon State. So far, the 22-year-old has lived up to his massive billing.
