Ravens coach John Harbaugh wants Breshad Perriman to begin advancing more quickly.
"I told him, 'I just am impatient. You have all this talent, and there is a lot to learn, but I just want to speed the curve up,'" Harbaugh said after Perriman had a rough game Sunday. "Obviously, he said that he could not agree more. We just have to keep chasing it. It is going to happen, and let's try to make it happen sooner rather than later." Playing about 40 weekly snaps, Perriman hasn't shown much after missing his entire rookie season, catching no more than three passes in a game and failing to find the end zone. He'll go further in the tank once Steve Smith Sr. returns from his ankle injury.
Free agent WR Nate Washington worked out for the Bucs on Tuesday.
The Bucs are absurdly low on receivers behind Mike Evans. Now 33, Washington caught 47 passes in 14 games for the Texans last season, averaging 14 yards per grab. He couldn't make the Patriots this summer, but might have a little something left in the tank.
The Broncos are giving Trevor Siemian more freedom at the line of scrimmage.
"We're getting more comfortable with him, letting go up to the line of scrimmage, giving him some either-or type of football plays, you go handle it, so we're growing from that standpoint," coach Gary Kubiak said Tuesday. "Trevor did a great job (Monday) night of getting our team into some great runs." Siemian's stats have leveled off after a surprisingly strong start, but he clearly has his coach's trust. First-rounder Paxton Lynch isn't a threat for the time being.
Dolphins signed S Bacarri Rambo.
Rambo is a playmaker, but extremely undisciplined. He'll occupy a spot at the back end of a secondary that just lost Reshad Jones.
Seahawks placed DT Quinton Jefferson on injured reserve with a knee injury, ending his season.
The No. 147 overall pick of the draft, Jefferson needs surgery. He went down in practice last week. The fifth-rounder had played only 22 snaps on defense this season. He won't be guaranteed a spot on the 53-man roster next season.
Free agent WR Stephen Hill has been suspended two games.
The reason is unclear. We haven't heard a peep on Hill since he couldn't survive the first round of cuts in Panthers camp.
Broncos coach Gary Kubiak wants to keep Devontae Booker heavily involved going forward.
Booker out-snapped (35-29) and out-touched (18-16) C.J. Anderson on Monday, though Anderson won the yardage war 107-87. "(I) think (Booker) ... is becoming more comfortable with what we’re doing. We’re more comfortable with (Booker) on the field in pass protection right now. We’re just growing as a group." We'd still consider Anderson the favorite for touches, but Booker is seeing high-end RB3 workloads. He's a great RB2 fill-in with six teams on bye for Week 8.
Broncos coach Gary Kubiak expects to continue using a 1-2 punch at running back going forward.
Devontae Booker out-snapped C.J. Anderson 35-29 on Monday, and out-touched him 18-16. Anderson narrowly out-gained him 107-87. "I sure hope so," Kubiak said of keeping both backs involved. "Hopefully we can have that many touches in a course of a game, but I saw two guys competing. I saw fresh guys on the field and I think that was good for us, but we were also getting more room to run. Those things go hand-in-hand." Although Anderson had his best game of the season on Monday, the situation renders him a volatile RB2, and locks Booker in as a high-end RB3.
