Carlos Gomez is not in the Astros starting lineup on Saturday.

Gomez returned to action on Friday after missing a game after he was drilled in the wrist by a pitch during Wednesday's contest. It's unclear if his absence on Saturday is due to the wrist or simply because he's hitting .213/.241/.275 on the year. Preston Tucker is starting in left field with Colby Rasmus manning center field defensively.

Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak said Friday that he expects Jhonny Peralta (thumb) to begin a minor league rehab assignment around May 21.

With that timetable in mind, Mozeliak noted that Peralta would likely need about a week's worth of games before he's ready to rejoin the Cardinals. Barring any setbacks, he could be looking at a return to the big league roster during the first week of June.

Athletics optioned RHP Andrew Triggs to Triple-A Nashville.

Triggs was with the club just for a day as an extra bullpen arm, and is being sent back down to make room for Saturday's starter, Jesse Hahn. He'll continue to serve as bullpen depth at Triple-A and should be back with the big league club before long.
Apr 30 - 12:50 PM

Athletics recalled RHP Jesse Hahn from Triple-A Nashville.

Hahn will make his season debut on Saturday against the Astros. As long as he pitches well, he has a chance to stick for a while given all of the injuries experienced in the A's rotation.
Apr 30 - 12:42 PM

Stephen Vogt is not in the Athletics starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Astros.

Being a day game after a night game, Vogt will take a seat and allow Josh Phegley to work behind the plate. Phegley will bat eighth against opposing right-hander Chris Devenski on Saturday.
Apr 30 - 12:39 PM

Joe Panik (groin) is not in the Giants starting lineup for Saturday afternoon's contest against the Mets.

Panik suffered a minor groin injury during the ninth inning of Friday's game and will be held out on Saturday as a precautionary measure. Kelby Tomlinson will start in his place and bat eight against opposing right-hander Jacob deGrom.
Apr 30 - 12:36 PM

Emilio Bonifacio is expected to rejoin the Braves on Monday.

With the rain out on Saturday, the Braves are afforded the luxury of skipping the fifth starter spot in their rotation which could prompt them to return to a 12-man pitching staff and carry Bonifacio in a utility role at least for a few days.
Apr 30 - 12:21 PM

John Lackey will start for the Cubs on Sunday against the Braves.

He had his scheduled start postponed on Saturday due to inclement weather. Jason Hammel will follow on Monday, with Jake Arrieta, Kyle Hendricks and Jon Lester to follow for the Cubbies.
