Brewers placed RHP Wily Peralta on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 23, with a strained left oblique.

Manager Craig Counsell expressed confidence on Saturday that Peralta would be able to make his next start, but obviously the club has decided to exercise caution here. It's not clear at this point who will assume Peralta's spot in the rotation. David Goforth will be promoted prior to Tuesday's game to take his roster spot.

Trevor Plouffe went 2-for-5 with a three-run homer in Monday's 7-2 win over the Red Sox.

His three-run blast off Joe Kelly was the big blow in a six-run second inning for the Twins. Plouffe is off to an excellent start at the plate this season, batting .270/.353/.474 with seven home runs and 25 RBI through 41 games. The Twins are now eight games over .500 at 26-18.
May 25 - 5:31 PM

Ricky Nolasco improved to 5-0 after holding the Red Sox to two runs over 7 2/3 innings on Monday.

Nolasco now has 100 career wins. He ran into a bit of trouble in the third inning, but bounced back very nicely and even retired 15 batters in a row at one point. He fanned five and walked none in the victory. This was the first time he had completed six innings in a start this season. The veteran right-hander will carry a 5.12 ERA into a start against the Blue Jays this weekend.
May 25 - 5:31 PM

Joe Kelly was crushed for seven runs in just 1 2/3 innings Monday in a loss to the Twins.

Kelly came into Monday's outing with back-to-back solid starts, but this was anything but. After giving up a sacrifice fly in the first inning, he allowed six runs in the second before being chased from the game. The big blow was a three-run homer off the bat of Trevor Plouffe. He allowed nine of the 14 batters he faced to reach base and failed to record a strikeout. Kelly now owns an ugly 6.24 ERA through nine starts this season and his time in Boston's rotation could be nearing an end.
May 25 - 5:30 PM

Aaron Hicks went 2-for-4 with a run scored and a stolen base in Monday's win over the Red Sox.

Hicks was one of six Twins with at least two hits. He also had an excellent diving catch which robbed the Red Sox of a run in the second inning. Hicks is batting just .244/.261/.267 with one extra-base hit and an 11/1 K/BB ratio over 12 games since being called up from the minors earlier this month. That's not very exciting, but there's every reason for the Twins to keep running him out there. It's about time they find out what they have with him.
May 25 - 5:30 PM

Mookie Betts went 2-for-4 with a double Monday against the Twins.

Betts is now batting .323 (10-for-31) over his last seven games. This includes four multi-hit games. He hasn't drawn a walk since May 11, but fantasy owners will take any sign of progress.
May 25 - 5:29 PM

Hanley Ramirez had an RBI single in Monday's loss to the Twins.

Believe it or not, it was his first RBI this month. Ramirez is batting just .234 (15-for-64) with three doubles and an 11/2 K/BB ratio in 16 games since returning from his shoulder injury.
May 25 - 5:29 PM

Yasmani Grandal has passed all concussions tests given to him by the Dodgers' medical staff.

He'll play in three rehab games with Triple-A Oklahoma City beginning on Tuesday -- serving as the designated hitter -- before being activated on Saturday when first eligible. Grandal sports a nice .291/.403/.466 batting line with four homers and 17 RBI for the Dodgers this season.
